So I'm building a new system:

Athlon 64 939 3200+
DFI Lanparty UT NForce4 Ultra D
PDP Systems pc3200 xbl (tccd)
Leadtek PX6600GT 128 Pci-Express *refurb from newegg*
WD 160gb ata100
NZXT Nemesis Elite Case w/400w pwr
Samsung 710N-2 LCD

I boot the system and I'm greeted by the Lanparty logo but its all artifacted or something. Then it proceeds to bios and that screen is just a mess, the text is not even readable. I see the boards diagnostic LEDs at the bottom left corner. The four yellow leds light up at boot and then each one should turn off but the last one seems to stay on. Manual diagnosis page describes this led being on as "VGA detected"?

It is not the monitor. I have tried the card on a different monitor but the same thing happens. So it must be the refurb card? But hasn't it been tested?

Theres also the boards 24 pin power. The power supply that came with the case is a 400w 20 pin? Would that have anything to do with it, the 4 unoccupied pins?
I heard these 6600's suck a lot of power.

Whats wrong?

as long as you have the 20 pin plug set to the proper side its fine.
but if you got the card at newegg refurb do yourself a favor and read the policy they have for refurbs.
pretty scary.

edit, dont put it on that bag like that, the outside is not antistatic. better off on cardboard or just the mobo box.

yeah definately don't buy newegg refurb video cards. I did once and it arrived totally screwed up.. I don't think they even check them when they come in the first time - they just resell them immediately.

Newegg gave rma refund & waived restocking fee (probably because they didn't have the same refurbished card instock to replace)
I'll try to stay away from the refurbs...for now. Muhaha...ahahhah...
