..well i finally hunted down 2x512 of bh6(1 from ebay-valuram& one i just bought from kkat). without using my brain i just threw in the old ocz vdimm booster in the only mb i have left(albatron 865pe pro2) put in the bh6 and booted right in about 3.5 volts. as i was getting ready to crank up clockgen something in the back of my head told me to checkout the vdimm booster. so i lightly put my hand on the mosfet hs as i did this, a sizzling sound of bacon being cooked pierced my eardrums as my fingers were being melted by the heatsink that mustve been at least 250 degrees. needless to say as i was screaming curses from the pain i immediately shut down the rig..
now using a little common sense i took out the booster and checked its compatibility at ocz's site. of cousre it wasnt compatible.. luckily besides burning the hell out of my fingers i didnt do any damage to any of the components(they test out ok). JEEESSHHH that was a knuckleheaded thing to do..

Mate,
Did that Mobo have Over Vltg Protection or did you blow that in the process?
I'm about to put together my Ultra-D in about 10 min when I saw your thread. I had the 4V jumper enabled.Guess its time to switch the 4V jumper back to the default slot, before attempting anything stupid with my TCCD :D

If all you're gonna use on that rig is TCCD then yes, you should switch the jumper. Be a shame to waste such nice ram on high voltage...... ;)

since the vdimm booster wasnt made for this mb i assume it was beating against the voltage from the mb.. thats why it got so hot.. but nothing blew cause i caught it early..

Now...don't you wish you still had your Asus which can take at least 3.6v with the Booster?
And speaking of BH-6, that is one chip which I've never had the opportunity to get, although at different times I've hunted them down.
I think now that everybody and their uncle is selling off their bh-5 and bh-6, I'm going to have to try again to see if I can't locate some at a bargain price somewhere.

LOL, yes the asus is a very nice board that takes the vdimm booster with no problem. my hero hipro5 claims bh6 takes the highest voltage and uses it all the time in his ddr1 mb's .says he runs 3.5v all the time with no problem whatsoever

Gents,
New rig up and running. Muskhin BH-5 2-2-2-5-1T @233 MHz. More optimizations to follow. I also tested the booster with this rig. Works like a charm. One has to use the second PSU 12V line though.
DFI NF4 Ultra D
XFX 6600GT
2 x 512 Mushkin lvl II Blk.

Reefa,
I was too lazy to perform felinuz's fan mod. So I just used wires to secure the stock 92mm fan which came with my XP-90 on the RAM :D
