View Full Version : I need more bandwidth
I need more upload bandwidth. Is there anything between my cable service which is capped at 128 k upload and a T1 line that costs $3000 a month that I can get into my house?
SDSL? Or if you don't have that availible, your cable company may offer a business plan with greater upload.
Nope DSL is not available at my house. They say I am 200 feet outside the range.
My cable company does not have a low end business account anymore. They go from the simple home account to the T1 thing.
try switching to a better cable provider.
thats basicly all you can do in your situation.

I assume it is running two cable modems for one account.
TT120, call and BEG to get more upload speed, tell them you will pay more etc.

I beg to differ you can't do that their is a thing called a mac address and to have a cable modem account you have to have a mac address and as far as I know you can't have two modems on the same account because of that Mac address the server would not let two modems with the same Mac on at the same time and a flag would be sent to the admin because someone would be doing something that they should not be doing. (IE: Mac Address spoofing)

it is totally possible to do this, you have to have the cooperation of the cable company to be able to do it though, that is the problem with it.

You could use 2 cable modems at the same time but you would be paying for the 2 and you would need connection teaming software that would Load balance the connections thus it would not give you actually more bandwith speed but more thorughput for instance web pages would load faster and would be better for running multipile computers without seeing as much speed decrease.

I suggested this earlier, but I don't think anybody caught it.
Use Satelite Internet... it's not too expensive, make sure you get one with satelite upload, it's really fast.
ya Satelite Internet is sweet on a clear day but ween winter comes youre srewed :P hehe and if it rains and if there a bird or meteor or anything that could make interferes will greatly SLOW you down ;*( it a good idea but tooo many problems...

ohhh I see now
two modems wouldnt make your d/l or u/l run faster but just increase your bandwidth so you can do more things........
Skip runs the forums and etc off of a bound DSL Connection last I checked. Your ISP has to be the one to provide the binding then you don't need two mac addresses and etc. But I think with cable that would be a highly specialized thing and honestly very hard to come by. Why don't you just become an ISP for dial-up in your neighborhood for cheap and justify the cost of the T1 ? =)
I need an OC12 in my basement, then I would be happy. There are what three in known existance now ? =)
Just my two cents

200 feet? tell them to humor you
the lines aren't very clear cut...they're just general areas....your performance may be minimally affected....but probably no more than 5%
my friend has done this...and so have I....and we haven't noticed any problems with performance at all
in many cases it still may not be possible, however.... but hey...you've not nuttin to lose....might as well try
I got an image of NetSatLive on a good day, doesn't happen often enough though:(
