Win 2k Help

I installed Win 2K pro on my system I Looked at the IRQ'S and 4 devices are assigned to irq 7 LMAO,Video,nic,sound,USB.....


Now What is this crap never has a 9x O/S done this before Is there Any way i can seperate these items to there own IRQ ????

Please Help LOL I think I am Missing My trusty ME already !!!!

It is ACPI in win2k. open device manager under computer right click on ACPI and open properties and upgrade driver to standard computer. It then will work more like win98 in parceling out IRQ's.

ACPI stands for Advanced Configuration & Power Interface. It was created to help with sleep mode and hibernate mode so most likly those will be the casulty of doing this. I do not know of anything else that is affected.

I did the acpi as you said but what i get is not an option to change driver to standrd computer but a wizard that searches for a newer driver,It returns with the statement the best driver is installed.

This is a huge problem as all cards and my USB SHARE IRQ 7

This is like so crazy I cant stand it lol,,,,HELP HELP DO I NEED TO GO BACK TO A 9X SYSTEM,,Or do I need to install this 2k pro in the nt kernal as I am installed as fat 32 currntly.

ANY ONE KNOW HOW TO CORRECT THIS IRQ PROBLEM,,I guess the talk that 2k pro rocks is slightly untrue !!

You have to select show all devices

you have to choose pick from a list and then show all hardware. Under search for a driver is pick from a list they have radio buttons in front of them.

Thanks I figured it out from the posts you guys helped out a ton.

I still have USB,Nic,And voice modem on IRQ 9,

Also Have Video On irq 3 Aint this supposed to be on irq 9 or higher ..I always thought video was supposed to be at 1 of these 3 ??? 9,10,11 ???

Is there a way in 2K Pro to assign an IRQ to a device Manually ?
If there is that is the fix for sure.

Funny I upgraded with this clean install of 2k because of IRQ conflicts After I added A voice,fax,data modem to handle my business calls I had irq causing Usb and voice problems looks all this work is just another windows blow job,{Meaning Me Blowing Bill }

The Only FIX FOR WINDOWS IS Overclockers.com Cause we all play with it so much it ends up eventually working cause a fellow member finds or creates fixes and sharees it with us all...

Are you having probs with it all sharing irq's?

As long as your HW is newer, there should be no probs in 2K
