I have a 3.2 Prescot.
ASUSP4P800DLX
9800Pro.
Thinking about this.http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=83-102-610&depa=0
Will it run cooler?
Is it a good upgrade?
This system runs hot.

yes it will run cooler, but may I ask you what is your cooling for the current system, and why not just sell the board and chip, and get a 6x0 series cpu that runs cooler>

I want to keep this system also.
I am using Artic Cooling Freezer 4.
Will I see a performance boost with the new system?
Also was wondering if I can overclock with a ABS system?

that's your problem right there. That cooler is not the best. Yes you will some performance increase, seeing the 6x0 series has the 2mb cache vs the 1mb cache of the Prescott, it runs considerable cooler, and the boards are made to handle the load of the Pressie.

I am referring to the AMD system as far as improvement.
Also wondering if I can overclock in bios a ABS system.http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=83-102-610&depa=0

i would imagine you may get better responses with regards to the overclockability of that system in the AMD section. this thread really hos little to do with intel cpus.

The mobo is an Asus, so I'm guessing it can be overclocked, but I don't know for sure. Find someone that has that mobo or do a google search and find a review about it.

What sort of performance improvement are you looking for? I mean in what apps? The Intel will match or beat in multitasking and video encoding. Won't see much difference in standard business apps. That AMD system will probably beat your current rig in gaming.

may I ask, why arent you building your new rig?

I was jsut going to ask the same thing because you could build that system for less...and even have more then just 200G of HDD space and junk ram...

Corsair TwinX1024-3200C2 1GB DDR RAM is not very OCable...

That also uses the K8T800 chipset...VIA is not a great chipset either...

For this price you could have a DFI NF4 SLI with dual 6600 GT's ( better performance over a single 6800 GT)...1G of UTT...2x200G SATA's and a 3200 (the 3200's and 3500's tend to OC the same) with a plextor 16x DVD-RW and a liteon 16x DVD...a Lian Li case...you can use your own floppy and OS CD...
