ok , i have a Caravan Pump used to suck water out of the barrel located outside the caravan, but it is unused , and i recently made a crossdrilled water block and got a heatercore from a scrapyard and then went to B&Q and got some flexiclear tubing 1/2" , so now all i am missing is my pump , i have some barbs but i was wondering if the pump would work off the computers power supply since it is 12 volts , and if it did , which pins i would have to connect the wires to. OH and i forgot to say , there is a filter on the end of the pump , since it is a submerged pump , so i clipped the filter off and it had a hole , it looked kinda wide , but its not very deep so i think i would have trouble trying to fit a barb to it , any suggestions ? , it has a barb on the other side so that is no problem, butit is just the filter side , there will be pics later , when the camera is charged to give you a better idea of what were dealing with. thanks in advance ~Pez

Right off the bat Id guess its not made for continual use. Might die after 24hours of being on...

well , i tested it on my computer , using the black and yellow pins on the 4 pin connector, and its certainly works , too well infact , i tested it with 2 pans and the other end off the tubing whipped out of the pan and sprayed all my room , and im sure it wouldnt die after 24 hours since people live in caravans and then use them everyday of the year., oh and heres some pics .. oh and about the barb , i was thinking of buying a metal barb with a thread , then screwing it in the other end , so it would be like a in-line pump instead of a submerged pump, but i was also thinking of just submerging it in a resivoir , but it doesnt seem to safe to do so.

Thats a very interesting pump.

I've personally never run across one, nor seen oen before. But I would be curious as to what you can do with it.

i was curious , then after 5 hours it started getting very hot , u could see condensation at the top of my res , then it started making funky noises, and then it gave itself a wobble and crapped out

See, you were right. It didnt die after 24 hours. It died after 5.

Utility pumps like those arent made for 24/7 use... You might use it every day but you dont use it for more than a few minutes at a time. Look the up manufacturer, see with the MTBF for the thing is. Id bet dimes to dollars it says something along the lines of "not made for continual use."

Been talked about before:
