View Full Version : Lack of 600 ptrs
Anyone else's PPD been suffering because of the lack of big 600 pointers, I know I have. I've been missing them greatly. Also anyone know if and when they might be coming back.
Yeah, my production seems to be hurting as well.
They're in betateam, so I'm sure they'll be back after Stanford gets a usage stat on the QMDs.

hasn't hurt me greatly.... my main rig (mr. unstability) was the only one that when it was working, was turnin' in BP's on a regular basis... the others took so long, that it didn't help me out... i'm better off not folding BP's until some hardware upgrades

If you have ≥512Mb of system memory on you Intel rig, you should be folding one instance of those QMD/QMWs for maximum production.
For HT machines the other client should be set for bigpackets=no and -advmethods flag to get Gromacs with few Tinkers.
bigpackets=yes and no -advmethods will get you mostly Tinkers and an occasional BigPacket when they have a few to distribute.

Audio,
IMHO a QWU and a Tinker are the best combination. Better cpu utilization than A QWU and a Gromac combo and it appears to me the TInkers use less memory bandwidth than Gromac which frees it up for the QWU. My two cents worth.

Production isn't hurting without BP Wu's, its back to NORMAL. The BP's were giving us all a boost. Look at it that way and its not so bad.
just wondering, was anybody else able to record upwards of 4k ppw on processors while running bp's? when I get them my calculated points come to 4k ppw on my current processor(Pentium M)

That doewsn't sound right.... are you sure you didn't calulate based on an inital frame (one which may have been partially completed already due to checkpointing. Even the fastest P4's and A64's weren't doing more than 2.5K per day.

On which protein?
Sig Rig #4
@ 2.54 GHzp1140 = 340ppd = 2380 ppw
@ 2.4 GHz p1476 = 521ppd = 3647 ppw
According to the OCAU database:
Pentium M 2.0GHz
p1475 = 618ppd = 4325ppw
p1140 = 309ppd = 2166ppw
If you've got any data on QMD WUs I'd like to add it to my database. It's probable that they produce about like the p1475/6. I'd need average idle frame time for the data to be meaningful. QWU frame times seem to vary a lot but that may be due to HT.
2ghz pm, runnin electron microscope since I started the protein 'n I'm fram 85 now, says 12:03 per frame(it was at one time down near 10), 364 point protein, calculated ppw is around 3k(just over) protein is p1476_tet_2nm
3k ppw kills w/e I've seen, 'n is a nice bump ^_^

12:03 = 434ppd = 3044ppw = 217ppd/GHz . I'd love to see what it does on a QWU. Check your log during a period when it was otherwise idle and see if it won't run in the 10:xx consistently. Very impressive 2.0 GHz chip.
