I was wondering what are the best drivers for the 6800GT? I've got an XFX 6800GT and I'm noticing some lag issues in Doom 3 and horribly low scores in 3DMark tests. I'm currently using the latest from nVidia right now, 71.04 or something I think. Think I should rollback to 66.93? I want smooth gameplay over anything, but still being able to show some nice 3DMark scores is nice to.

Did you upgrade from an ATI card?
All of the drivers above 66.93 give decent benchmarking scores. 75.90 seems to give the best scores, but 66.93, 67.66, and 71.20/5 give me the best gameplay.
I have a 6600GT, so I don't know if my experience will be true for you.
Just how bad are your scores? If they are way off, it sounds like a driver conflict rather than driver choice problem. I would try uninstalling the drivers, running Driver Cleaner 3, then reinstalling the drivers.
If that doesn't help, format and reinstall :þ

head on over to guru3d.com and get your hands on a set of the Xtreme G 76.41 drivers.... very smooth gameplay here and increased benchmark scores. I've read around that nVidia is planning on relasing a new set of 90.xx drivers in the near future to fix all sorts of problems.... but thats still just a rumor as of now, but I sure hope so!

I found a super driver for my 6600gt that is so good I would urge you to try it on your 6800gt.

It is the VXG 71.20b found here:

Personally, I'd stick with newest ForceWare drivers (71.84)

That's it, those are the drivers I downloaded from nVidia and it's causing some random freezing for 3-5 seconds at the beginings of 3DMark tests and in various parts of games. Any ideas why it's acting up, aside from my crazy driver idea?
