View Full Version : L7 Bridge Question??
From reading an article on Hexus.net. They suggested that by connecting all L7 Bridges of an AMD chip that:
a) The default Vcore = 1.85V
b) You could increase Vcore above 1.85V by increasing the voltage in the bios.
Is this true or false, can you increase the Vcore of an AMD chip by doing the L7 Mod and if so has anyone here done the L7 mod and get any increase in Vcore and overclockability.
Thanks in advance.

Yes that is true it will set default voltage at 1.85v, wether or not you can actually get more by setting the vcore to 1.85 in BIOS which in reality will give you over 2v well some boards allow extra volts, somne dont, youll have to try there is not really a big risk in connecting the bridges, just watch out for heat. most of the newer DDR and kt133/266 amd 761 chipsets will allow it.
Thanks Jason I will try this mod later on tonight when I get home.....and I'll post the result here.
Also my VIA hardware monitor reports my Vcore to be 1.91 when I increase the Vcore to 1.85Volts in the Bios.
With my A7A 266, while bridging all L7's. It will not allow any other setting then 1.85 in the bios. Thats the only option it gives me as far as adjustments. Every board will be different. Maybe yours will work.

I think your board will allow the voltmod to work, and with VIA hardware monitor showing over the set volts, it is a normal thing. My 8kha when set to 1.75 shows 1.82 in MBM, and when i set to 1.85 it shows 1.92 , VIA is a constant 0.27 over. So ur all good - hope it goes well

like bdf24 said it depends on the mobo. If your settings will not allow more than 1.85v it probably will not go above that. But then again you never know until you try.
