As far as I know this problem is intermittent only when its idle. Ive yet to see this actually happen while I'm using it.
Background: For anyone of you guys who have accidently jarred a video card loose while it was on can relate to these symptoms (No, thats not what I did, but I have in the past ... lol) Its where the whole video gets corrupted.
Problem: When I leave my computer idle I go to the welcome screen and turn off the monitor, but lately theres been a couple times where I go back to it and I turn the screen on and the computer is still fully responsive, I cant see anything because the whole screen is a giant glitch but I can make out where the mouse is just by moving it around. I also know where things are in the welcome screen because I use it all the time. Problem is I have to turn off and back on to fix problem (havent tried restarting, figured its best to power down anyways). I'd take a screenshot but... well self explanitory there, and I cant take a digicam pic because its charging. Go figure.
Anyone have any idea what the problem would be? (its the home comp) It may also sound like symptoms of the video card core/mem temp going through the roof, but its not. Its got upgraded cooling on the x800, and its got another fan blowing directly onto it now.
Sometimes my brother uses the computer and it could very well happen after he uses it. For a day or two I wont allow him on it just so I can troubleshoot. If its something he's doing... well then byebye computer privaledges. Ive spent too much time and money building this to have him wreck it. AFAIK he uses msn and browses net.. But Im never around when hes on it.
