I've got a few questions about the new palomino core CPU's.
Is amd going to stick with the old socket A or are they going to use a new socket, like Intel did on the P3 tualatin and P4 next gen. ?
At what speeds will the new CPU's be @?
And will I be able to use my A7A266 with the new CPU's?

well everything amd makes and will make for some time will be socket A,
and your mobo should take it as long as you have the latest bios version,
did you know that the mobile athlonds are also socket A?
they arent like the others they are on a socket hold so you could upgrade to another.

As for speed they are currently at 1 and 1.2ghz, and in I believe in October, they will be at 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 and eventually at 1.6 and 1.7ghz.
Also on a side note, amd will no longer call them by their speed, but a model number that compares to the P4.
For example the 1.5ghz will be called "1700" because it is equivalent to a P4 at 1.7ghz(actually thats a very conservative number as it would most likely be faster than a 1.8 P4)
The Palimonios also are something like 10-15% faster and 20% cooler than the Thunderbirds, so the 1.7ghz could easily beat the 2ghz P4.
Also they're goning to be called the Athlon XP,(not sure why, but I'm sure it involves Microsoft somehow)

well, the 1 and 1.2 are the mp's. I think they will be at 1.33ghz, 1.4ghz(PR1600), 1.53(PR1800). and then they will come out faster in the future and possibly with a 166mhz fsb. I think, that may be the thoroughbread's. All you should need to run them on the a7a266 is a BIOS that supports palominos.

Apparently, the A7A does not support the palomino's right now pending a future bios update------

Welcome Master. Are the currently available versions MP only for laptops?
Does anybody have info about the OC'abillity of the new Athlon's?
The only info I found so far is that the MP has a lot of more bridges. Further I found this article:
