i had a 3com NIC which has wake on lan function. i nv try that b4 until recently i suddenly feel i need to try that function. did anyone know how can i set it up??

It's highly overrated. Especially if you have a hub, because a hub just broadcasts to every single port, that computer will be on almost constantly.

What it does is if the NIC card detects a signal it turns on the computer. That's all.

Trust me, in a week, the novelty will wear off and it will quickly become annoying. If you have a switch it's a little better because it will only turn the machine on that has the IP address that is having info sent to it.

All you should have to do is set the NIC's properties to enable it.

Wow, luckly i had switch on my lan. when we talk about sending signal to the pc, what kind of pc we are talking about?? how do me send those signal??

wol dosent send just a signal it sends a special frame and when the adapter sees this frame it sends a signal to the mb also even if there is a hub wol messages are addressed by mac address so it would only activate the right computer i am looking for a program that sends the wol packet i thought 3coms network surpervisor would but i still cant find it in there any mb with a wol connector will work

Wake on lan is a problem if your not careful you will end up with someone in your system without you even knowing.
