View Full Version : PC build for friend, looking for help
My friend is looking to build his own pc with my help , ive built 4 computers for myself. I'm looking to get suggestions from you guys about what we should do for components. The budget is $1000 and the the computer will be mainly used as a digital audio workstation. with surfing, homework, that type of stuff. He's a college student. Well, for $1000 wat kind of components would you guys reccomend? Monitor is not inlcuded in the figure, this is for the tower only. Thanks in advance for any help :)

Is he going to overclock it any? For digital audio I would get at least 1Gb or ram. Make sure you get a good PSU, that's important...nothing cheap, something like the Fortron Blue Storm is a good choice. Get a AMD 64 or P4 with Hyper Threading, that will help with digital audio. Good audio card like the Chaintech A710, I think it's around 25 bucks or the Creative Labs Audigy 2Zs for around 70 bucks and up...maybe cheaper now. That's a few things I could think of.
thanks cornbread. But im looking to get some example builds to show him to see if he likes, i havent been up to date as of late so im asking you guys for help

Is he doing hard core audio rendering?
If so, it might be worth waiting a month or two for dual core processors.
