I just bought a 1GhZ Tbird with MSI K7-6330-L3 but when I boot up the startup screen shows that I have a 1GhZ Athlon ?

Anyway I can see in the bios that the current CPU temp is around 63C and system temp is 37C, is it possible that the store sold me an oc cpu ?

What can I do ?

Welcome to the forums! You'll not find a better place to ask your questions. Enjoy your stay, and please check out the FORUM GUIDE at the top of every topic. :)

First off a Tbird is an Athlon. Same thing.

Secondly, you probably didn't get an overclocked CPU...it's just running got as AMDs tend to do. What kind of cooling do you have for you system and for your CPU?

Thanx for the reply :)

Well, my CPU is cooled with a fan running at 6200RMP and a similar fan is for the system.

But why does the bios only show CPUFAN1 Speed but not CPUFAN2 Speed ? Is that for some kind of double-fan system for my CPU?

Also, if my cpu is so hot can I overclock it any ?

Tbirds/Athlons tend to run pretty/really hot even when they're not overclocked, one thing that you have to make sure is that you didnt get a coolermaster/thermaltake HSF with your new cpu, if so..... I suggest you should call 911 and have them ship you a *REAL* HSF such as a Glaciator, Thermalright SK6,PAL8045 or anything else that i'm sure it will be better than those two! ;)

Another suggestion would be: (if you dont have it already) Try to get some Case fans in your system at least 2 one blowing in and the other sucking the hot air out, that should help you bring the temps down at least the system temps.

If you a decent HS and you havent lap it, now could be a good time to do it that normally helps you decrease the cpu temps for an average of 3-5C.

I hope any of this information would be usefull for you!

And remember keep it KOOL!
