Looking to put together a new system and need some advice.

-CPU(S): INTEL XEON PROCESSOR - ACTIVE FAN HEAT SINK - 3.20GHZ, 800MHZ FSB, 2MB CACHE,

-Mobo: SUPERMICRO "X6DAT-G" E7525

-RAM: 1 GB DDR (333) PC-2700 REG-ECC Mushkin Pro (991099)

-Video: 1 ASUS GeForce 6800 Ultra PCI Express (Will get the second for SLI soon when prices come down a little.

-Hard Drives: 2 Raptor 74GB 10000RPM SATA Hard Drive, Raid 0

-Storage Drive: WD Caviar RAID Edition Series 250GB 7200RPM SATA

-CASE: CoolerMaster CL-STC-T01-UK CM Stacker - BLACK

-Power Supply: Antec 550W Power Supply, 24-Pin, Model "TRUE550 EPS12V" -

Toss in a DVD burner (not sure which one to get) and it comes up to ~3.5k

Just found out prior to ordering that the CM Stacker does not support Nocona (according to their website). I'm not really sure why that is.....Since the same motherboards can handle several different versions (Nocona and Irwindale). Their documentation is old, so I'm not sure if that means it won't support the Irwindale as well....Is there anyone here that has put an Irwindale in the CM Stacker?

Defiinitely need advice on the following:
-RAM : Mushkin vs. Corsair
-Case: Any good alternatives (as in extended ATX)
-Video Card: Always have gone with ASUS but they are at quite a premium. How does BFG and the others compare (could save a 150 or so there)
-SLI : When SLI first came out they were done on supermicros. Now there's all this talk about Nforce, etc. Is the supermicro at a disadvantage for SLI?
-DVD Burner : Which is the best?
-PSU : Am I going to have problems with PCI Express with this power supply?

Any advice you guys would have would be definitely appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you noticed our SMP forum in general, may want to browse/search through there to find some info

Then here's a quick link to get you started (or at least you can check out some alternative componenets):

And finally for power supply reccomendations:

If you haven't moved this thread to the correct place, I'd swap out that motherboard for a start, and possibly choose some cheaper CPU's and clock them.

The Asus PC-DL
Or the NHCCL (i think?) one are much cheaper and a hell of a lot better.

I have used the supermicro ones and there is no comparison.
