View Full Version : Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds demo
Could someone please find a good/quality link to the d/l of this game. I know there's Gamespot & Fileplanet, but both are crap. I get 2kbs at GS and you get waitlisted at FP.
Thanks.

i waited in line for 2 hours before I was able to download. It's obsurd, and not really worth it, but when you play, you'll get some fun out of it (Especially because of the fact that I'm an avid Star Wars fan).
I've got it, it's 70 megs. I can FTP it to you, though my DSL can only send stuffz at ~16Kb/sec.
Mail me or PM me if you want to get it from me, but you might as well get it from Fileplanet. By the time my transfer to you would be done, you'd have gotten through the wait time and downloaded it already.
That's ok man, I ended up getting it from Gamespot. I just let the download go all night.
My first impressions: Gotta love that SW atmosphere. It doesn't matter if the game is crap, I still get chills whenever I hear that theme music ;) I really enjoy playing as Darth Vader and sending your storm troopers out to destroy that rebel scum. The enviroment graphics is actually better than I anticipated it to be. Movement also feels less obstructive through the trees as compared to AoEII. On the downside, it felt a little too simplistic, but heck, that's the only mission I've played.
Nothing beats constant orchestral music though. The mp3's that come with the game are worth the download itself ;)

You can play multiplayer, on The Zone. Free 24-7 gaming.
You can choose to be the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire. Both let you get to tech level three, and you can build all the builtdings up to that point. You start with a Command Center and 4 droids.
There's only one map you can play in multiplayer, but who cares! It's still fun!

I didn't think it was all that great...unit movement needs to be fixed, big time...havign a Tie Fighter and they go as fast as a ground vehicle? I think not...and the anti air missles are just insane, all you need is two of them in your base and you can take out any size air force within seconds. I'm a big Star Wars fan, but once again they've churned out another one of the so-so games...
