I have heard you can connect the L1 bridge of my AMD processor with a Circuit Retrace Pencil supposedly sold at Radio Shack. They haven't heard of it, anyone know where I can get one? It's also called a Circuit Writer. Another suggestion was a product called Comma Electrocure, it's a silver based elec. conductor. I think it's used on rear window defoggers. What are some other suggestions for me to use & where to purchase them at. Thanks in advance.

It's supposed to be a pen sold at Radio Shack not overclockers. I may have mistyped it.

I used a rear window defogger repair kit to unlock mine , I bought the kit at advanced auto parts for like 8.00.

I used a mechanical pencil about 4 months ago. Mine is still running fine.
Defogger kit worked its magic over here.
Everything running tres solid now! :)

go to radio shack's website. Do a search for circuitwriter (all one word). Then follow the link that pops up. It's an order only product, they don't stock it in the stores and won't know what you're talking about. I can't vouch for the quality of this product, I'm waiting for mine to arrive. But c'mon, how bad could it be? FYI
Price = $8.96 US
Brand = Caig
Cat # = 910-3890
Model = K-CW100P
You should actually be able to order it from your local store with just the cat #. Oh, and they're sticking me with about 4 bucks in taxes and shipping.

I've used a Bic mechanical pencil on my L1's on both my Athlon and my Duron and I've never had to redo them... worked like a charm. Granted, I don't handle my chips or switch them out a lot.

What's the local wisdom about the best sort of lead to use? I used the cheapest #2 pencils i could find, and Idon't think it did much of a job.

I think that you need to get the BEST pencil you can get...the cheaper ones contain an additive that impairs the conductivity of the lead...not a prob if your writing with it, but not so hot if you are attempting an electrical connection...:D
Go to http://www.bigfootcomputers.com and you can purchase a permanent unlocking kit with silver epoxy for $19.95 cdn. I purchased one and it works great.

I've looked there, I wasn't impressed by their prices. I just got some defogger repair stuff and put it on my chip last night. Works great. Got it at an auto parts chain store for $8.99 Canadian +tax.
