Hi,

I'm new to this forum.

I have a question to ask about an idea I got after reading the article "Cool & Silent Hard Drive Sandwich". I wanted to try to fit a hard drive sandwich into a Lian Li RH-Series Mobile Rack

I was wondering if anyone here owns a Lian Li RH-Series mobile rack that has the internal measurements. Everywhere I checked doesn't mention what the measurements are including the Lian-Li site!

And more importantly, I am wondering if the drive would be cool enough to function properly in that kind of a setup. I am assuming that if it fit, it would be a very tight fit. I know that some Lian-Li racks have fans inside.

If anyone can help me out with this, it would be appreciated, thanks.

It would also help if you told us the drive you were planning on sticking in it.

yeah, I was just about to come back and do that =), I completely forgot.

I am putting in an IBM 40GB 60GXP (7200rpm drive)

Are you planning on sticking it in an external HDD rack or a Lian Li case? If you have a Lian Li case, you don't need to get an external rack, because there is a removeable rack in front of the dual 80mm fans in the front of the case that holds 3 hard drives. Really handy for me to cool my dual Maxtor 40 Gigers, if I stack them in the 'normal' 3 1/2 bays above they get really hot, while in front of the dual 80mms with a free bay between them they stay nice and chilly.

actually it isn't external, it's a removable hard drive bay.

I plan on sticking these removable hard drive bays into a regular metal case ( http://www.directron.com/silverh.html more specifically) and I was hoping to fit a hard drive sandwich inside of one. I just have no idea what the measurements are, and whether it would get too hot or not.
