Since changing my Craetive GeForce 2 MX PCI for an AGP Hercules GeForce 2 MX, I have had nothing but problems. My Athlon 1000 would run at a 113 FSB now it won't run 1% over, it even locks in games with no ocing.
I have tried new drivers, new BIOS, latest Sevice Packs for Win2K, running at 1X AGP and still experience problems. Could this be an issue with the KT133 chipset?

First thing I would try is to boot up in safe mode and see if your old drivers are lurking on your system by going to system/device under control panel in safe mode.
You can also check this by running Dxinfo and saving info, then going down to the bottom of that file and look for inactive display drivers.
Alot of times the old ones lurk and causes mucho conflicts.
Good frist step thing to look at.

Tried clearing old drivers, then gave up and re-installed Win2K. Still with the same problem of games locking or BSOD in Win2k.

hey, try wiping your cmos or loading fail safe in it, and see if that helps.

13oots2,

Olebass gave you very good suggestion. This is common problem many people face with.. that is the old driver/ registry still remain in your hard drive. Yes they are not easy to get rid of. It takes some steps to get rid of them. 13oots, Im quite sure that you're facing this trouble. You said you "re-installed" your OS. That's the worst way, will hardly solve any problem. If you already have reinstalled the OS, your old registry may be still there or may have gotten worse than before. I assume you have the backup. at this point, I'd recommend you comepletely format the hard drive, restart computer, then install your OS. There is no way in the world the bad, un-needed registry will be left if you format it. That should solve your problem, good luck!

yeah there are many kinds of registry cleaner software out there. I don't know about the one from Norton. I have tried various kinds of registry cleaner before and if not used carefully, some of the shared files that are needed by the operating system can be removed. This result in system malfunction cauze of missing files. That's why you have to be careful what files in the registry you need to remove. I can't trust the wizard that automatically removes un-necessary files. What I do is instead of using the registry cleaner, I use the registry editor that comes with the operating system to back my registry up.

Could always do what I do whenever I upgrade. Just completely wipe the system and start fresh with all the newest drivers for everything. Alot of work but I like knowing my system is clean and fresh.
