I threw a temp client on my dad's 2400+ system and our 1700+ windows fileserver. The 1700+ has a stock HSF for cooling and thats it though, so I'll have to keep an eye on it and take it down if it gets too hot.

Ouch! First day, last place :(

I think the problem was my production though. According to BoincStats, I only gained 50 credits today, even though my cache is empty (so everything was sent off). Normally, I'd have about 700 more (which would have had us just barely into 3rd place), so something weird is going on with BOINC... Hopefully I can figure out exactly what (or it's just a massive credit hicup :D) before we get too far behind.


EDIT: Hmmm... Well, from the looks of it, it might have just been a hicup... BoincStats was updated at 3PM, and the race stats at 2:45. Since then Berkeley must have validated some work since I now show 1734 more credits than BoincStats does. We should be back up into the standings on the next update it looks like :)

I think this race will certainly up our overall team output by quite a bit... maybe we'll pass the knights who say ni by July... :cool:

Well, 1st day and we're in last place... not the best start... but everybody loves a race where the winner comes from behind... perhaps this will be one of those... :)

My production was down as of late...got it back up recently but that can account for a few lost points.

But I've submitted 4 WUs on systems that aren't normally crunching today...and none of them counted :mad:

Sorry my production is off guys.... As noted in the team race thread berkely's xml stats are screwed up. It only reported me as getting 100cs today. trust me, I am am crunching full steam. The good news is in a couple days when this gets sorted out our team should get a nice bump. Now lets get out of last place !!!!!

I'm almost at 100% as well. I've set LHC to use up what work is left and not request any more, and after that it's 100% resource share for SETI on all my comps :D

It's just too bad that my two most powerful boxes are laptops, and thus can't run 24/7 :( I'm trying to get it plugged in whenever it's possible though, so hopefully I can squeeze out a couple extra credits.

Just got a xeon 450 back up and crunching. It had been sitting there waiting to connect to the servers every 9 days or something because of the outages, but now i got it more stuff to crunch.

Err - I'd prefer that this not become a recruitment race :) It was established as a production race. We unlocked a single new team such that they could get some latecommers in. If this turns into a recruitment thing it will become unbalanced/unfair and generally not very fun.

Its fine if someone wants to setup another race with that goal in mind - but for 'this' race - it isn't what we signed up for.

Just my 2 cents.

Well there's many reasons for that... Yes I started boinc from the start so even though I haven't been crunching seti for some time I'm still somewhat ranked good. I'm not crunching much these days because I sold a bunch of computers I had and I haven't been teaching for some time so I can't use my classe's machines...

Only got two main machines now, my P4 is crunching seti for the race and my A64 is on einstein. As founder of the Einstein overclockers team I just can't pull all my machines off it... Got two laptops that are somewhat crunching and an old piece of crap Pentium 2 on Seti.

Yes this ****es me off too, wish I had my crunching power like before...

Well, I got Showboat crunching now... the FCT team is all going at it... 100%... Gemini, Dreamboat, and Showboat...

I wish we could take on another team mate or two... but I think the other teams know we'd stand a chance then... and they evidentally don't want that to happen... even if it is a bit contradictory of the whole notion of having a race to entice participation in SETI... :rolleyes:

For those wondering about my decreased performance its because i've recently added a new heatsink / fan to my main rig, and i've only had my computer on when i'm near incase a heat issue arrises, when i'm sure its safe to leave on, i will.
