hello...
does anybody know if it is possible to use a intel tualatin cpu in a slot1 motherboard using a slotconverter generatin the correct voltage? or is there any limitations concerning the chipset...

I believe Powerleap is supposed to be working on a converter with it's own voltage regulator and somekind of workaround for a chipset problem. But if it turns out you're gonna have to buy a new mobo to run a new Tualatin CPU it's better to go for an AMD system right now I guess.

it would be just great if powerleap launched such a converter soon - I have read somewhere on the net that the tualatin cpu might be the new celeron in 2002! and what a great celeron... I guess I just have just to wait and see if the converter turns up...

Right now I am running a P3 600@800MHz on a P3V4X with 1,2 GB SDRAM... used to get 866MHz with a PEP66 cooler - but it was to noisy...

If powerleap makes one, I'll buy it! Although my Abit Slotket3 goes down to 1.3V, wouldn't that work? Ehh, probably not knowing Intel.:D

I just hope it's cheaper than their Golden Socket for AMDs, that was ridiculous.

FROM THE POWERLEAP FORUM...yes it does exist although few use it

A quick reminding:

1) PL-iP3 new rev. for the Tualatin been done and verified successfully.

2) Neo for the Tualatin seems possible, still testing.

There're some limitations: You'll need at least BX and above chipset based MB also the FSB-133MHz. BIOS upgrade seems not as critical as we thought. Please don't ask for more, we'll keep you posted. Otherwise, I might be kicked out of the Lab for good.

BTW, the speed increase is awesome in the 3D Games.

Well this Tualatin-to-Slot-1 adapter and the new 1.2 gig Celerons with 256 cache spell good news for us with the venerable BE6-II, P3V4X, and P3B-F boards!

Read an old review in Anandtech on the 815 motherboards and the 440BX board still is King of QuakeIII against 815, 820, and I think KT133 chipsets.

and the p3v4x will riiiiiise uup from the ashes of defeat, and take on a new life of rightiousness......but anyways i believe that the cellys are compatible with old boards anywayz.....its the p3s that are screwed.....
