View Full Version : HELP! Thoughts on my cooling plan...

(ARGH! I un-logged in somehow, now I hafta type this again :( )

Hey everybody. I just bought a new case that is somewhat more unmoddable than I expected....Anyways, I have a limited amount of usable space to work with and I need an efficiant cooling plan. The plan is as follows:

ONE 120mm Panaflo Fan on the top front(ish) of my case BLOWING fresh air in.

ONE 80mm Panaflo Fan in the top back of my fan, threrby sucking the fresh air directly over the CPU.

ONE PCI slot cooling exaust fan. This is one of those exaust blowers for a PCI slot. Hopefully pulling some of that fresh air around the pci/agp region.

Heat raises up! so i would suggues you put that 120mm fan in the botton front of the case (BLOWING IN) and if posibble another 120mm fan in the middle top (SUCKING AIR OUT)
The exhaust on the back would help too, but a fan on top blowing in wont help you much :(

Here's an example if you want to use it ;) :

The picture above shows the 120mm fan, which is sucking the air out, and this picture shows you the 120mm on the front blowing in:

On my case (its called the IMT 4000 Minion btw), which looked much larger in its pictures, is rather small. Its a mid-tower, definately, but the power/reset button placement make it very difficult to put a fan at the lower bottom, which was my original plan. I suppose I am going to have to break out the dremel and just put the power/rest buttons elsewhere.....but they wont be nearly as pretty. The point of the top fan blowing in was so I didnt have to ugly-fy my nice looking case. But if that wont work I'd rather have function over form.....


NOTE TO ANYONE READING THIS, DONT BUY CASES THAT YOU DONT RESEARCH....:p
