Ok guys the time we have all been waiting for has arrived.Everyone that has joined the new subteam should be folding for F(OC)LD as of now!
This is our chance to really move up the ranks and compete with members and other subteams that have way more production that any one of us alone could produce.Together we will rise to the top swiftly and with great pride as we have some of the most dedicated new and seasoned folders on our team.
I would like to thank TollhouseFrank who was instrumental in setting up the team by giving his time and effort to an idea that the two of us had and really wanted to bring to life.Without him this team would not be possible.
So with that I ask you to F(OC)LD on!

Thank you for your time and effort as well, Strat. **edit** got most of these horrible puns from King_Warg**
OK folks! This is IT!! Let's get out there and show these other sub-teams what borging is about!
Part 1: Lord of the Borgs - The Fellowship of the Borg
Our fellowship came together, and we set out on the quest to Mt. Borg, to destroy the One Disease.
Part 2: Lord of the Borgs - The Two Folders
In all this unfortunately, a great group by the name of True_AMD_Folders was pulled in half. But this new group, with the 'army' we are gathering, is much stronger, and will plough on to victory on the slopes of Mount Borg.
Part 3 The Lord of the Borgs - The Return of the BP
We now have the King of all packets, the BP back in power! LONG LIVE BP!!!

awsome! i will start folding for F(OC)LD once this Wu that i am working on is finished!
TO THE TOP! :attn:
edit: oh wait so if i stop the service of FaH, then change the client.cfg to the new name it will put this current wu under the new name?
TollhouseFrank
04-12-05, 03:59 PM
i honestly don't know. i did that, and it came back up that it was doing the WU in the new name. so i hope it is...as its a BP... Wanna get started off with a bang!
k3nshin
04-12-05, 04:06 PM
hmm i'll see if it works for me. i dont have a BP but this wu is worth 148pts...
Names, races, brands, and locations become irrelevant, as long as the team is 32
TollhouseFrank
04-12-05, 04:47 PM
true, Sjaak... but a few of us DO prefer working together with others.... sure, we would get the same amount of work done seperately... but its all under 1 name instead of a dozen.... or something like that... uhm....
want a cookie?

You do know there are many other subteams right? If its getting up in ranks that you want join one of them, or do you want to control how the subteam runs? Any way good luck with it.
TollhouseFrank
04-12-05, 06:01 PM
LOL. That was all in good fun, Tenchi. I think it helps the forum's production when a new, promising Sub-Team comes along and spurs the others on. It happened HEAVILY with WW4.... the Folding_Monkeys got some good stuff going for a bit. We have had a good amount of interest in this sub-team.
Oh yeah, dont' forget to help me with the sub-teams list thread! I'd like to get all the info I can so I can set up an official directory. Sorta like a phone-book, but only instead, its for the Sub-Teams
veryhumid
04-12-05, 09:14 PM
I'm a little too far along to be joining a sub-team, but good luck! I'd love to see a sub-team in the top 20!
I as well won't be joining you, but I eagerly await you to show up on my threats list :D Competition is fun :D

see i figured i really doont have much chance of doing anything great on my own. thats my reason with going with the sub team rout

Do you know about how many people will be folding for you, and how many computers?
Good luck (and I am finally at a rank of 1476, BTW).
TollhouseFrank
04-12-05, 11:24 PM
that's not bad, electrocamd. In 2 1/2 months, i nearly broke the top 500 on my own (was up to about 523 or so)... True_AMD_Folders in the same time got to about 60 spots behind... and our next biggest folder, King_Warg, got to the 600's in 2 1/2 months. With all the extra powah (from the TWINS, no less!).... and possible borgage through Arkaine (he expressed a lot of interest, still trying to get him to switch over).... we could be looking at a top 10 PPD team here. at leat top 20 PPD on Team32 within 2 weeks, methinks
TollhouseFrank
04-12-05, 11:26 PM
Oh yes! For those of you who are joining the team and using the Sig-Generator made by JerMe and Christoph, remember to change it to F(OC)LD in the Generator! LOL. Took me 30 minutes to fix it in mine myself (kept forgetting to hit "save" button)
good luck with the team guys!!!!
Oh hey frank...
want some pie.... you know you do...
TollhouseFrank
04-13-05, 10:05 AM
lol... look at da sig man... Its gotta be a cookie.
why is my cpu only at 50% when im folding??!?!? i wanna give it 110%!!!!!!!! oh yea, what settings need changing done for me to fold for us :D
TollhouseFrank
04-13-05, 07:22 PM
find the folder where your F@H program is at, and look for your client.cfg. open that file with notepad, and you'll see some program settings. The first one should be username=Name. Just change the username=Name to username=F(OC)LD
WOAH!... looks like you have a P4!!! It is using 100% of your CPU, even though it shows up as 50% because of hyperthreading.
If you didn't know it already, you can fold 2 instances of F@H. Senior member Wedo made a "Wedo's One Click", which installs F@H into a predesignated folder, and with the Wedo One Click for P4's with Hyperthreading/Dual CPU machines, you can run 2 instances of F@H!!! here is the link for it, if you are interested http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=231247
you still have to edit the client.cfg to change it to F(OC)LD as the username, but it is a neat package to get everything set up for you.
Not bad. But I still got dibs on bragging rights until you guys pass me :P
Good work!

Yeah, our team is just starting to Ramp up Production. I've had 1 out of 7 Borgs report under F(OC)LD so far. when the other 6 report (4 of them on BP's)... our points are gonna shoot up. That doesn't include what the remnants of True_AMD_Folders brings, King_Warg... and a handful of new recruits that we managed to get into F@H.

reporting for duty :) actually did some time ago, my first wu for the new subteam went in this morning.
let me know when the time comes to make a team webpage, I'll code it up although I don't know if I can host it myself (graduating and losing my webspace the 30th)...
TollhouseFrank
04-13-05, 10:56 PM
if you need hosting, I can possibly do it.. i have 15Mb's webspace provided by my ISP.
icesaber
04-13-05, 11:07 PM
that should be plenty. it'll be mostly textual :) that and jpegs aren't very big if you use the right compression...
Wow. You guys seem to just be picking up members like I pick up chicks :P
Very interesting...lets see if you guys make a blip in production.

TollhouseFrank
04-13-05, 11:10 PM
7, before picking up the peeps outside of the big 4 on the team (Myself, Strat, Ice, and King_Warg).... i had done a rough prediction that in a year, we'd have around 500,000 points with our combined might. With all the others adding in an unknown amount of powah... it may be a lot more.
Over my dead body. You'll have to pass me first.
Challenge? No. Annoying person in your right ear egging you on? Yes :)

actually I'm not a new member to the subteam. I was a cofounder of True_Amd_Folders, so let's just say I'm what they got when they added the teams together and carried the one ;)
TollhouseFrank
04-13-05, 11:24 PM
LOL.. Yeah, we got some baggage with the transfer of powah :p , but all in all... its good. And 7... it may not be for a few months... but we are pickin' up steam fast, and we'll pass ya along the way.
I'll make sure and give ya a cookie when we leave you in our dust. :D
TollhouseFrank
04-13-05, 11:34 PM
Got this from Electorcamd:
F(OC)LD site
I saw you talking about having a web site for the F(OC)LD subteam. If you want more than the 15MBs you get with your ISP, I might be able to host it once my server is setup (shouldn't be too long). I have ADSL with 384Kbps upload and unlimited bandwidth, so it shouldn't be a problem and I don't have anything else to host really. Let me know if you want me to.
electrorcamd
What do you all think?
icesaber
04-13-05, 11:36 PM
I'm cool with that. just let me know where to send the files when I get them set up :)
while electrorcamd does have plenty of bandwidth, I think I'll be nice and still keep it as textual as possible... just because I'm a nice guy.
I'll make sure and give ya a cookie when we leave you in our dust. :D
Seriously.
Have your wife mail me a fresh cookie when you pass me.

just checked us out this morning... we are doing GREAT! Its like all 7 of my machines plus an additional 6 extra reported all at once! I have the sneaking suspicion that we have more than that! Keep it coming, folks!
I'm a little too far along to be joining a sub-team, but good luck! I'd love to see a sub-team in the top 20!
OC3d are in 9th place although, granted, Arkaine23 more or less IS OC3d....

at least i am shown to catch road warrior in 365 days :)
Well you'll probably get a bit excited over the next couple of months, you could see that overtake drop to as close as 3 months. I'm one rig down right now, my basement got wet with the snow melting and I had to unplug it too hook up bigass box fans to dry it out. Then I'm moving on 31st May, so I may be offline for a couple of weeks, to maybe a month. Then after that, I'll be back with a bang, central air baby, no summer glitching for me :D and when I'm settled I should have 10Ghz going... So you've got maybe 3 months to knock hell out of that gap without too much competition from me. After that, you'll probably have to find a different target :D
lol why don't you join us orion? Then you can catch up with 1500 people in a few days ;)
orionlion82
04-14-05, 01:30 PM
love to join up, but i have absolutely 0% acess to 3 of my borgs... ill be playing around with getting more and more borgs, and depending on how cumbersome it is, someday i might join a subteam... appreciate the offer, but allso i think there is some value of individual users seeing that they can bring alot of power on their own...

LOL, yeah. I figured I wouldn't be able to move up very far on my own after I hit the top 1500 and could hardly move up anymore at a decent rate.
I changed my main rig over 16 frames before it finished the Tinker, and my Duron a couple hours after that.

TollhouseFrank
04-14-05, 10:57 PM
do what i did. i shared the F@H directory on all my borgs on my network, and made a shortcut to each on my desktop, to check thier logs whenever i want.
icesaber
04-14-05, 11:19 PM
can't, no router. I just swap the monitor cable between them (no kvm either) and when one needs to use the net, I swap the net cable too.
TollhouseFrank
04-14-05, 11:21 PM
AH.... i have an easy way around that. Get an extra network card, a crossover cable (Cat5/ethernet, ask for it at a local electronics shop, and make sure you specify crossover cable)....
Stick the extra network card in one computer(the one that the internet is going to). Connect it and the other machine together with the crossover cable. all you have to do is set up internet connection sharing with the 2 machines (with the 'router' being the computer that the internet comes into).... and voila... simple 2 machine network.
TollhouseFrank
04-14-05, 11:28 PM
WOOT!!!!
we turned in 2,300 POINTS today!!!
if it keeps it up like this, we'll be a page 1 or 2 contender in NO TIME!!!
as if i did not have enough to worry about. Maybe my california trip will yield some good borgs!
Nice pointage guys!
icesaber
04-15-05, 01:41 AM
F(OC)LD.hasPoints = true;
as for the crossover cable, I've thought about that, and I have enough cards to spare... trouble is, school network doesn't allow internet connection sharing or managed routers, if I try that they'll block my ip (it's happened before by accident).

its a combination of Old and New Powah (and missing a chunk of it currently). the big 4 in it , myself, Strat, icesaber, and King_Warg, were representing nearly 85% of our team's powah. King_Warg's network went down, and he is currently working on fixing it. We do have the meatball twins, a machine of Jig-Pu's... i think its time i get serious with the folding...college lets out in 2 weeks, and once it does I will reveal the full extent of my clusters potential output capacity (currently about 40% of possible max) and after my trip to dayton in may the bar will be raised on the max potential output, as i plan to bring back some new folding machines and enough parts to start sharing power supplies, and also there is the possibility of going all out with Tollhousefrank's help and making this as a replica of the ENIAC computer and filling that thing with a bunch of system boards, with one monitor in the center on a moving table and all the keyboard and mouse ports inside for quick access.

I just joined up. Not much but hopefully will help out. A P3 600 folding 24/7. A P4 3000 pretty much 24/7 and another P42800 pretty much 24/7. I'm hoping to add a couple of borgs later on, just need to instruct my friends on how to change things.
(is there any advantage to having 2 instances of F@H running on hyperthreading P4s?)

Welcome! Great to have you on the team.Your adding some decent power too:)
There is a slight point advantage in running dual instances with a HT cpu but the real points are in the bigpacket QMD's.They take about 500mb's of ram alone and should only be run with one instance.

Unfortunately no.You have to change the client name then stop the service and delete the work folder in program files. Then restart with the new name and your folding with us.

What big packets are you working on? I thought you had amd cpu's?
Not many of them going around for us.
Anyhow since our ppw are down I don't think it's that because the extra time it takes to finish those big packets would ultimately give us more points.
Well,I'll do all I can to borg more.Btw I got both my pc's back up and adding another this week:)
Onward!
well by BP's i ment the last two wu'smi had were too 2xx point wu's and the one i am workign on naw is a 3xx pointer. thats a bp to me compared to one of those 3x pointers. but i guess its not a real bp though... w/e

sorry I've been so quiet so long guys. I have some bad news...
I'm afraid some of those power hits have been me. I'll just make it simple. I haven't found a better job yet, and I'm being kicked out of my dorm this coming week (end of term). I'm going to crash @ my g/f's house for now but they're on a single income and refuse to take cash for the power bill from me... so I'm not going to have anything folding for about a month or however long it takes me to find something $10/hour or better... I already have my folding boxes torn down and moved there (effectively in storage) and I'm on the laptop here. TH
sorry guys. I'll get my rigs up as soon as I can... power bill at the future apt may be an issue too, that and the g/f not being hot on "wasting power" as she puts it. some people just don't understand.
I'll try to be on at least once a week or so, I don't really have much access to the internet from there, and I'll be there as of sometime this coming week.
if you really need to reach me, my email addresses are icesabre2001@hotmail.com and icesabre_1200@yahoo.com.
godspeed, team.

Hopefully I will be able to scrounge up the parts and get that one back up and running. I am also currently building an athlon 64 3200 winnie for someone at work, hopefully I can borg that- shold be done withing a week or 2- just waiting for the parts to be delivered.
p.s.- thanks for the support, strat. I like to think I am helping out a bit.
edit: btw- I've got:
xp3200(24/7)
xp1700(24/7)
Xp2500(?)
xp2700(not yet switched over (?))

also, Someone at work just got a mac mini and I'm trying to get him to fold on it. It wont be much, but it will be a bit.
I'm hoping to get an ibook G3 800mhz pretty soon, too- wont be much, but it will fold.
There is another person at work that wants a cheap pc- thinking of a duron 1.8 for them- hopfully I can borg that too.

i got the following from the above link, a sticky in our F@H forum
----- Here's a popular version of a permission letter by Arkain 32 ---
To the ACC Computer Science Department,
I am writing on behalf of the members of the Folding@Home community to bring the Folding@Home Distributed Computing project to your attention.
The Folding@Home project uses spare processor cycles to synthesize and calculate how proteins fold, misfold, and aggregate. The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious repercussions, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's disease.
Folding@Home is a distributed computing project, which in essence is a technique that uses the internet to create a tremendous super-computer. By splitting the workload and sending small portions out to volunteers who donate their CPU time, the project is able to harness tens of thousands of CPU’s and move forward more far more quickly than it would running on a Cray super-computer. The folding client runs on an idle priority and never takes CPU cycles that are needed for other processes. Think of a CPU’s cycles as a glass of water. When you browse the internet or process documents, you only drink 1/20 of the glass, and the rest is unused.... The folding client "drinks" the other bits of water. The client lets the other programs take as much as they need. This in no way spies on your activities. Studies have shown that Folding@Home does not impact the performance of computers, and it only needs internet access to receive work packets and to send results, which occurs anywhere from three times per day to twice per week depending on the particular work unit and CPU involved. Bandwidth use is minimal and it operates on standard www and https ports 80 or 8080. Many schools and corporations are starting to help the scientific community by joining this or similar projects.
If security is an issue with your decision on allowing the client to be installed, I can assure you that the F@H client is quite safe. It uses a digital signature that is verified with each download of a new work unit. The signature is a very secure way to verify that no bogus files have been downloaded that may attack/affect your system. The Folding@Home project does not cost anything to you. The school can form its own official team for stats tracking and can then compete against teams (even other colleges) worldwide. Your individual lab administrators may form their own usernames within the team and compete with each other. Clients are available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and FreeBSD.
You do not gain anything from folding, but science does and perhaps someday this research will cure protein disorders or find new treatments for some types of cancer, in which case the whole human race benefits. All in all, the client is free and uses very little hard drive space. You may find other uses for the client as well. In monitoring a few dozens of folding@home clients, I've found that they can help pinpoint hardware problems. The folding@home community and I hope that you will think about allowing this client to be installed on some of the school’s computers, even if only on a trial basis. Whatever you decide, I thank you for your time and consideration.
I urge you to seek more information about this exciting DC project at the official Folding@Home site: http://folding.stanford.edu

I'm going to try to get this box (imac w/ a G3 600MHz) folding for now. so I can at least say I'm trying to contribute...
oh, and I finally convinced the g/f that my term "lab" for the future doesn't consist of 10+ boxes, so she's opening to the idea of me having 4 or 5 boxes folding. she comes from a very conservationist background... it's called compromise though. I wouldn't mind having 10+ boxes folding... but for now it doesn't matter, someday it may come to pass.

Ive got a P3 600 Folding 24/7 but my dad is having some problems with it. The comp is as said before left running all the time. Used maybe once a day to check his Email. But since I installed the folding client, which uses up 100% CPU when running, outlook is taking up to 5mins to start. The comp seems to take a while to send a request for CPU time, then folding has to react. So, anyone else have trouble with low power systems folding? Is there a way to say, only allow folding 80% CPU?
EDIT: Nevermind, I had a better look and what was happening was, as soon as I he/I hit the shortcut for Outlook, Folding went down to 2% or something, but then Sophos Antivirus decided to take 98% and was refusing to give up. So Sophos is gone now.

I can see it we have 2 advisors, strat. Icesaber(Advisor#1) is there in that position, ready and willing to help us where needed, and if need be, to take over a co-leader spot if either of us cannot do it for whatever reason. Why not have 1 more that can do that? (2nd advisor... steps in after Ice steps in... say for example... both me and you hafta step down for personal reasons or what-not... we could have 2 peeps step in that could help keep this subteam afloat). Doesn't sound so bad to me, and besides, with gary's experience organizing a subteam of his own, I can see that he would be very valuable to the team, and well able to help us with anything we needed help organizing.

hey all, sorry again for the quiet spell :)
needless to say, I was shocked to come back to another merger... but not disappointed.
I offer this option: a team with co-captains doesn't have to be led by only two. we could make it into an oligarchy. I mean, why *not* have 3 co-captains? it's an option anyway. and besides, as some others have pointed out, gary does have good experience with team management and would be a definite asset.
that's just my 2 cents on the topic.
that and I like the fm avatar :) and I remember a comment about "MPGA" (props if you remember).
I don't remember who was talking about it, but someone was talking about getting a duron 1.8GHz for somebody at work... I can tell you now that durons are real dogs for folding, worse than semps. My morgan at 1.2GHz took over a week to do a 120ptr! I can't speak for the applebreds, but with the same cache I expect similar results. get them to spend the extra $20 and get an XP (maybe an 1800+? I had one that did 2.5GHz on air), they WILL notice the improvement, and not just in folding ;)
official: my move-in date is june 2. I'll try to get something up and running asap when I'm in.

i've noticed one thing with the sempron i had to get to replace my 3200+ barton... my barton could do a 240 point tinker in about 4-4:30 minute frames.... my 2400+ Sempron replacement is doing them in about 8-10:00 minutes per frame. A LOT slower... but it still gets the job done.

just a thought, what would you think about having a council vs. team leaders.. like seeing as each of you two kinda had a team prior, when teams merge with you, they could be a member of the council...if I joined and brought my team with me, then i'd be on the council as would both of you...just a thought, still don't know if i'm coming over.

Absolutely.I think a larege team like this could use some more input and help.

Mitch, always feel free to give your two cents. They are often worth more than other peoples dollars:) I agree with you here and good luck with your move.
I didn't know durons were THAT bad. Maybe I will go for an xp in it... He doesn't actually care whats in the system- as long as its cheap ;)
In other news, the A643200 rig is done and delivered- he says that he will keep it running all of the time.... Wooo HOOOO.
Whats up with this production slump, though? The last 2 days we've been under 1000pts and it doesn't look good for today, either. I'll be droping a 600 pointer tomorrow, so I hope someone else can follow suit! :)

Tell me about it right? I was monitoring the last 3 days myself.

I was about to ask the same thing................ our production has really dropped off. Maybe it's just the calm before the storm of BP's :p

It's better not to think this way. We're (as team32) are weaker and weaker, and it would be good to stop this process and gain more strenght and to keep folding. It's not only about getting new comps or chewing BPs from time to time. We need to keep borged comps folding.

Venom I beleive he knows this to be true but was merely hoping for an increase in points. Not a sin in my book.

Actually, what I meant was that hopefully most of the computers on F(OC)LD had been chewing on BP's and were all preparing to dump them at once...........

05-05-05, 09:12 PM
i had 3 boxen reformated and everything the past 3 days.... i lost 2 BP's in the process... so it'll be another day or 2 until they dump... that... and this sempron doesn't fold worth a damn.
anyways, i do believe that part of the slump is some of us (strat and I) have lost a couple of borgs to reasons beyond our control... others are probably part time folders (only on during the day... or less than 8 hours a day)... and they do get them done, just not as often as some of us who have them on 24/7
Well, we had something happen at our work.......... which makes it extremely unlikely that we'll be able to borg any more of our work computers. One of the guys that we work with got caught gaming on the network and lied about it, so the IT guys are kind of mad at the people in our workplace............. which is a bummer.
Oh well........ we move on!!!

hey mtb... write them a VERY nice letter about F@H... and ask VERY NICELY for permission to try it on 2 totally seperate boxen as controlled subjects... that if they don't like what it does, you will get rid of it for them.
Yeah, first I need to walk over there and apologize. Hopefully I can restore good relations with them and then talk to them about FAH.
TollhouseFrank
05-05-05, 11:14 PM
that's a good way to start out, mtb. get all nice with them, then ask if you can be allowed to try F@H on a pc or 2 as an experiment (after telling them what F@H is about). If you are nice enough... and give them some time to get used to the idea... you might be surprised what IT guys will open up to do (they have a right to be paranoid, trust me... after having worked for a university's IT department for 2 years... you get VERY paranoid over every packet going in and out of the network)
It would be really cool if you could get more comps to folding, but in such situations it's very hard.
I'm not here to bash anyone or anything like that, but it's real pain to see machine count drop in our team, when opponents are increasing in power with around 1.5k whooping machines folding for each.
There are tons of comps around me idling and I can't help it. Recently I convinced a few guys to folding for team 32, but these are only a few machines and I have no idea if they're going to fold long, or maybe just one month or week.

hmm... i know guys... it happens though. Sometimes forces conspire on each of us that we have no control over. Usually financial for most of us... but we just have to remember, that it is for the long haul for folding. Those guys on top didnt' do it in a day. They've been at it for years.

05-06-05, 07:09 AM
we've had 1 BP drop already guys. Hopefully we get some more today, and that explains why we had a bit of a drop in production. I'm currently on a p741_Villin-pfold-protein-confined myself... and its going slow as heck.... but it'll get done.
I think I'll switch my Barton to advmethods... all the time I get ****ty tinkers, like 57-pointer just now. Gromacs seem to be better for me, at least they don't hate me like Tinkers. :/

My brother wont allow me either. A P4 2.8 just sitting there most of the time. He leaves it running all day, and isnt there most the time. He has some insane notion that there must be a catch, and no amount of evidence will convince him otherwise.

TollhouseFrank
05-10-05, 09:53 PM
yeah.. i think it was a bout of BP's that hit us.... they all dumped over the past 3 or so days... and if we get more... it'll be another slow 2 or 3 days, then another bout of big days of points.
Come on guy's. You can't expect a Sempron 2400+ to fold anywhere near as well as an Athlon XP 3200+. It doesn't even have all that much to do with it having half as much L2 cache. It's mostly to do with clock speed.
Just think about it. A 3200+ runs at 2.2GHz with a 200MHz double pumped FSB. A socket A Sempron 2400+ on the other hand only runs at 1.67GHz with a 166MHz double pumped FSB. The 500MHz lower CPU clockspeed and lower FSB bandwidth is bound to take it's toll.
Why not push the FSB up to 200MHz to give you a 2GHz CPU? It'll still be slower than the XP 3200+, but much faster than it is right now.
You really would have been better off with the 1.8GHz Duron as it has a 13.5 multiplier and a 133MHz FSB. If you can achieve a stable 172MHz FSB this CPU will be running 2322MHz, which should cause it to outperform your XP 3200+ in f@h, but not in gaming.
Remember that clockspeed tends to be more important than bandwidth (so long as you have 512MB) with f@h single CPU rigs.

I'd push it hire as soon as i can get a more stable PSU, and can figure out my RAM settings to get it to a higher FSB.

frank-
simple to handle that memory stuff. loosen your timings (maybe 3-4-4-10 for now?) and up the vdimm to 2.7 or 2.8v. that should get it quite a bit higher at a cost of latency.
as for the PSU, don't be too worried. I had an NF7 w/ a thoroughbred 1800+ @ 2.5GHz 1.85v completely rock-solid stable 24/7 on an x-brand 350w psu. will a nicer psu be better? yes. but not worlds better, unless you're trying to power pelts in parallel...
as for folding, my g/f found the client on her mac and got ****ed, so it had to come off. she's convinced that it makes the machine use more power. what a crock, it's a mac and folds worse than my laptop for christ's sake... even though it's a 600MHz :(
that's all on my end for now.

its a Rosewill RV450S
So far, so good. The power is a LOT more stable that my old PSU. Sure, i miss the LED fans and such... but more stable power is better, IMO. Also, there seems to be MORE power.... i can now HEAR the difference in my fans... they spin faster, and my Volcano 11 now has more than 3 speed ranges.... it now actually has near INFINITE variability....
am hoping the PSU upgrade fixes my problems.
