No, using the OBS is not a myth with frame rate loss...
This depends on your MB...with the NEO2's and the OBS enabled...it can hamper up to 60FPS in certain games...I still use my OBS anyways...just make sure to disable it in the BIOS when running benchmarks...

Exactly what terms are you talking about? Pure high-fi sound quality, gaming, or a combination of both?

In that case the Audigy 2 is your best choice. There are minimal, if any differences between the Audigy 2 (I think it's now called the Audigy 2 Value) and the Audigy 2 ZS, it's just marketing crap. The Audigy 4 is actually better, but not worth the price. EAX effects wise, most of that is software anyway, and the Audigy 2 and up do EAX 4.0.

I use a usb soundcard.Does that hurt fps also?
Stat. . I am guessing it would effect frame rates as you will be using another resource to play your sounds. :D
