Ok heres my problam I just got some new PC parts and in the process of installing them had to remove my old PC from its case. I have 3 other cases up in my closet but one has terrible airflow(viao case) and the other two are old PII cases that look like crap. So I figured I might as well make one(only has to last me like 2 months until my brother comes to visit, he has like 5 Antec and will give me one). The problam is I have like no power tools. I have no dremel, no buzsaw, and no holesaw. I spent all my money so buying these is not an option. I was thinking of useing a cardboard box. To me it seems practical, if my pc starts over heating I open the lid and let some air in, if i need mroe case fans I pull out some scissors and cut a new hole. My mom laughs at the idea though. So that got me thinking though I can still do that if I want maybe it is a stupid idea. My next plane was attach it to bottom of desk(no draws) but my worry is someone will hit like the PCI cards handging down and break them. So that dropped on my list to. So my qeustion is, what would you peple reccomend I use. I could use old cases to hold me over but I kind of want to trough something crappy togather for the fact that I made it. Tools I have are, Drill, Circlular Saw, Hack saw. I have others to but they are things more like chainsaws meant for cutting down huge trees. So any ideas on what I can do? Thanks.
(system going into it is, a PCI modem, 2 cdrom drives, one HDD, AGP card, mobo, CPU, and PSU)

i used tin-snips on mine and a file, make a hole with a punch and a hammer, and away you go

Tin Snips? Is like that like those thing pieces of metal that are like 5 feet tall and wide?

You use Tin snips to cut thin metal.

no, they're basically scissors, except they cut metal instead of paper

if you buy them get a name brand, not the cheapo ones since they suck.

You could go sans-case for 2 months if you're using a room nobody else goes into.
Or
If you have enough stand-offs to mount a motherboard you could make a temporary cubby-hole type case out of MDF or pine that should atleast protect your parts for a while. Just drill the holes for the stand-offs then screw them in using some pliers. Basically making a box with two open sides and an upper shelf to hold drives.

No idea what most of that is. Whats a sans-case? Any way I was looking for a toy to use becuase i think it would be cool to have it in there, couldnt find any though. So I was looking at my desk and decided to build a box and mount that to the bottom og my desk.

sans-case like no-case. He means don't use a case until you can get the one you want

oh, I had that for like a day but to risky. I would probaly use my old cases before I did that again.
Hmmm, then just use an old case.
Looks really don't matter honestly. Just put it on the floor.

I know, but I figure since its only temporary I might was well build something crappy. Its to simple to just put it back in a case.

Your first idea with the cardboard box has been done by lots of people and works well to protect your parts for the kind of time you envision. Cheap too. Why'd you let your Mom talk you out of it? It''s the most practical idea for a two month long use.
Do a web search for "cardboard computer Case". You can get as fancy or ghetto as you like.

Haha see thats what I picutred. So easy to cut some fan holes. Maybe I will combine them and glue the box to the bottom of my desk.
