I am trying to figure out how to overclock my Compaq Presario 4640. It has a P2 266mhz. It is a 6th generation, model 2 Pentium Klamath. It has a 512 cache and runs at 66mhz FSB. The board is harder to figure out. The closest I can do is Compaq 410h. The chipset is Intel 440lx/ex. From what I can gather, on the older Klamaths you can change the multiplier. The Bios is Phoenix version 4.0 Release 6.0.B. This CPU didnot even come with a fan on it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm not into Intel CPUs anymore but the expirience I had was with a P-II 233 and the only thing I could do to overclock it was upping the FSB, because the CPU was locked. If nothing happens after you up the multiplier, that means your CPU is locked and the only way to overclock it is by using FSB.
Hope it helps.

Try downloading the motherboards manual from the manufacturer website.

There may be a good chance that the CPU is unlocked. Thats right around the time they started locking CPUs so you may have gotten an unlocked one.

That's what I thought. Any ideas how to go about changing the multiplier? Any steps would be a help. The CPU was made in the 2nd week of 98 in the Phillippines.

You would have to be able to do it with your motheboard...which with a Compaq is rather unlikely.
