Im so glad I left that game....
Well that is dumb. Never provide a done/end date when you aren't sure you can keep it. Blizzard really needs help in a lot of departments. Wonderful game but plagued by morons who run it. From patches to character transfers, something always has to get FUBAR.

Huh? What happened? Character Transfer Cancelled?
Huh? What happened? Character Transfer Cancelled?
Yeah, that's what the link is talking about. Blizzard said they'd keep it up until April 18 and suddenly stopped it resulting in many players being split from other members of their guild, etc.

lol I had a feeling something like this was going to happen, as soon as I saw that it was posted on the main site that they were back open. I haven't been on Illy in a few days... been playing my Alliance alt char w/ my wife...
So how's every little thing over on Illy??? I need to pop back in soon... especially if I plan on hitting lvl 60 with Grimnosh this weekend.

I am beginning to think the same thing. Sounds like they are a long way off from getting everything polished. This was a major F-up. How would you like to be stranded from your guild buddies for the last month only to find out it's time to reroll or make new friends. Kinda glad I wasnt able to transfer yesterday. I'd be SOL and without a guild

I read a lil thru that thread and someone claimed to have spoke to a support rep. The rep said that the transfers were causing too much server lag so they pulled the plug till they begin the transfer for certain realms at a time.

This is no big deal. Requesting a server transfer is a risky proposition. Whenever you make the request there's a chance you'll be split from friends and guildmates. The benefit of moving to a less crowded server always comes with that risk.
See, if everyone on the server requests a transfer then what would be done? Move everyone? Not! Some would get moved, others would not. The idea is to split the load, not move the crowd from one server to another. Because Blizzard can't know in advance how many people will request a transfer they can't absolutely guarantee that everyone who requests one will get one.
This exact scenario happened a dozen times with EQ and every time it was the same. The people who took the risk and got split from friends and guildmates whined and complained, but overall people were happy and the game went on. To say this will lead to the death of WoW is a complete joke.

They reworded the transfer closing announement to include transfers to low-pop realms as temporary. The way it was put before, only transfers to the test servers would be reopened. Still doesn't sound like it will happen anytime soon.
-----------------------
Due to an overwhelming volume of character transfers from high-population to low-population live realms and character copies to the test realm for the purpose of helping us test our upcoming patch content, we've had to disable the character-transfer/copy functions for all realms sooner than anticipated to avoid any overflows. We'll continue monitoring the realm populations and announce the re-enabling of the character copies to the test realm, as well as the character transfers to the designated low-population realms from the eligible high-population realms, as soon as possible.

if you have your head about you you'd get sick of it in two months anyways.

Homey, it don't work that way. A good MMORPG keeps you coming back for more.

if you have nothing better to do you will go back and play more. only thing that will ever keep me coming back is a hot chick. the thing with wow is people hit 60 pretty quick and after they reach 60 they become bored and just repeatedly gank other people trying to do the same thing. really, it held my interest for only about two months (the honeymoon phase, it was new and all the other shi*), i tried reactivating my account and tyring to go again but it wasn't the same. in my book wow was only great in a few areas (like the ui) and becomes really repetitive. that's my opinion and i figure i'd say it regardless of the masses of wow fans waiting to take issue with this post.

FLAMES, FLAMES AND MORE FLAMES!!! How can'st thow blaspheme our great and almighty Blizzard and/or WoW! Thow shalt rot in the bowels of hell for all eternity...
Sorry... just had to get that out of my system. :p
Really, for me, the main things that keeps me coming back, despite the lack of adequate customer service, are the fact that my wife plays WoW with me, a good guild of friends, and the anticipation of things to come (Battlegrounds, Hero Classes, etc).

You know I have been playing on the same server for about 2 months, and I have had a blast. Sometimes it is laggy, but I just say, okay, whatever and come back to it later and it's fine. I wouldn't start bashing Blizzard over this, they have done much more right than wrong in such a demanding, high population game that requires so much constant attention.
There are too many expectations for a sequel to Starcraft, I bet we won't see one ever, which is probably a smart decision on their part.

The game shots look amazing. However, I suspect my system would die a quick death with the graffic requirements of EQ2. With WoW I have all in game settings at max on a 1024x768 res screen.

Yeah, that happens a lot. For me it happened in all MMORPGs until this one. For some people it'll happen, some it won't. Nothing revolutionary about that. MMORPGs are flawed in concept (at this point atleast) and will be until the genre finds a work around for the tread mill.
I've said before that the WoW treadmill is a bit easier than other MMORPGs, but its still based on the bread and butter (treadmill) of all MMORPGs.
I guees all games are, but MMORPGs are far too heavily based on the leveling grind/carrot on a stick.
Anyway, with good friends and a system that embraces casually play its easy to not get burnt out playing (casually atleast). Heck this may be the first game I make max level without twinking/assisted leveling and possibly max out another class or two.
Different stroke for different folks.

Any guesses why they left? Sen wonders....... Maybe <gasp> because Blizzard sucks?
Blizzard doesn't suck at all in terms of making games that are fun and exciting--their tech. department is the culprit of the suckiness. IF they would actually get more experienced people and whatnot, I think that the people over on the WoW boards would not be as ****ed off as they are. If Blizzard really did suck, so many of their games would not become instant hits and classics. I really think they represent the epitome of North American game developers but as with all things, even Blizzard has their flaws.

eh they may not suck, and they are good at what they do but that doesnt mean their games are always the best :p
other than the hardware issues of WoW their is some content things that should be implemented *cough* honor system *cough*....
IMO, all of Blizzards games have been 10/10 with the exception of diablo2 and warcraft3.
