View Full Version : What is a good Capture Video Card?
I am going to build a computer dedicated for video. I need to find a good AGP or PCI-X video card for capturing video from a digital camcorder. I am going to imput the video analog, which means I need a video card with VIVO (video in, video out). Can anyone recommend any? Don't worry about price or if it is agp or pci-x, I will get a motherboard to fit any of them.
Thanks,

Any of the Ati all-in-wonder cards will work for you, I have a RageII AIW sitting on my desk here that I got for free, it works great.
Thanks for the reply. Will consider that and look more into it.

If you want to dedicate a machine to video editing, you can't go wrong with the Matrox RTX10. It is a PCI card and allows real time effects to be applied such as colour correction, wipes, dissolves and transitions. It is also fairly fussy about the motherboard it will run with, but it captures at full PAL or NTSC resolution, has firewire and anologue inputs and outputs. Also it is not a cheap card, but the best for the home video enthusiast. It also comes with software worth more than the card costs. Here is a link http://www.matrox.com/video/products/rtx10suite/home.cfm
Thanks for the post. Will take a look at that card.

I just posted on another thread my recommendation for the ATI AIW 9800 Pro. I love my AIW card. It is AGP; and works flawlessly. It comes with an adapter to feed analog into the video card slot. It accepts AV coax, but also S-Video if your source happens to have S-Video out. I record from my HD cable box or VCR using S-Video and coax audio cables. Just make sure you get decent cables.
