Not sure if this should go here or in Motherboards...mods, feel free to move if necessary.

Navi (specs in sig). I'm using the onboard LAN with newest drivers installed. Windows recognizes it, but I cannot pull an IP on our network (DHCP). Our network is on Comcast; I've tried the workaround on Navi and I still get nothing (ZAP recognizes it as a new network, but it also recognizes 169.254.xxx.x as a network  ). Windows firewall is disabled, and I even tried disabling ZAP...although it's in learning mode so it should allow normal traffic through.

ipconfig: 0.0.0.0
ipconfig /release: IP has already been released (0.0.0.0 again)
ipconfig /renew: Could not contact DHCP server.

I've been having some static problems; could I have zapped something (I doubt that, as the onboard LAN is active)? According to the connection properties, I'm sending data but not receiving anything. My cable modem recognizes Navi's connection as well.

I'll try my spare NIC later today...

make it a static ip on your NIC, usually when i reformatt and install nic dhcp doesn't get an ip so i have to manually set a static ip and it works...GL

Cable Internet providers usually use MAC address security, which only allows one MAC address to access the Internet directly. Was it working before on that computer? and isnt working now? I would bet that somehow it has to do with the MAC security. Usually Cable providers will have a Setup CD that will reregister your computer on the network with the current MAC address. You may also want to call Comcast about this, as they can also reset the MAC address currently assigned to your connection.

That's probably what it is...I should get the ISP setup screen when I try to get online though. Oh well...darn them, forcing the software down our throats...

I got away fine without the setup CD for CODIS; guess that's not happening anymore. I'll probably have to call Comcast again after I get my router...

*wonders if I can get into the router's configuration somehow*
