View Full Version : What did she do?
Well for my birthday my wife bought me 4 x 256 sticks of Crucial registered ECC PC2100. The problem is I was about to order some PC2400...how much has everyone been able to O/C this on their KG7?

First, you have to make sure that your mainboard can handle ECC. Second, Win9x and WinMe can only use 512 Mb of Ram.
If you have a mobo that can handle ECC DDR Ram, I don't know how much slower ECC DDR is than non-ECC DDR. ECC Sdram is 5% slower than regular Sdram.
And I don't know how OCable ECC is, whether it's Sdram or DDR Dram. Sorry.
The advantage of ECC is when it's used in a Server. Should you decide to run a file or Web Server, and you use NT, Win2K or Linux as its OS, 1 Gb of ECC DDR will come in very handy.
here is a good site for the kg7: http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kg7kr7/kg7kr7faq.htm
you need registered memory if you are going to fill all 4 slots.
