Before i even start, i am not gonna post the actual pictures (even the rules say i should), just a link directly to em or to a gallery of em, because if i posted the picture, you would have to wait a long time, so this way, its easier for everyone
I was going to buy this case
http://img184.echo.cx/img184/5215/casedesignpic22vf.jpg
http://img184.echo.cx/img184/9898/casedesignpic9cg.jpg
but when i saw the hefty price tag of over 250 USD, i decided to get creative.
im gonna use a shelving unit i found at canadian tire (kinda like home depot, but better) it cost me $20 CDN. then im going to rip out my hdd racks and mobo tray from my old really moded case, and put those in there, add a few windows, alot of fans and theres the ufo for 50 bucks CDN tops.
http://img184.echo.cx/img184/97/dscf00011gm.jpg
http://img184.echo.cx/img184/4558/dscf00020rb.jpg
it was gonna be painted metallica blue and have a labatt's blue giant beer logo on the side, but when i saw that metallic blue paint is $19 a can and its really hard to get a big labatt's blue sticker, i decided to go with a AC/DC Back In Black look. heres the original design
http://img184.echo.cx/img184/2715/casedesignremix7ba.jpg
heres the gallery where you can view em all, and when i continue they'll be posted here as well as there too.

I don't know about that cube tower cases - but I like them! What company makes these?

I made my own cube case too here (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=363906&highlight=100lb+monster).
What is that logo on the side? Are you going to put those words there or somthing else?
hainer36
04-15-05, 12:41 PM
its gonne be a giant beer logo/sticker if i get the actual stick from the company, or if i have to paint it on.
hainer36

my reasoning behind the beer case, is here, also here is the labatts blue label

UPDATE: the cutting was begun a while ago, now im at the point where i have to rip apart my old case to get the hdd racks and the mobo tray, then put it togerther and paint it
sorry about no pics, now, but 2moro they're gonna be here, and ive decided to go with a black case instead of metallic blue, the blue was just too hard to find in st. catharines and too expensive when it was found, the labatt blue logo is a question, i may just find another window/picture frames glass, and draw on my own version

its all painted and now im just waiting for it to dry, will post pics tommorow, when i dont work,
i ordered an XP-120, NV5 (for my new 6800nu) a couple of switches and some fan splitters(to run some fans lower for noise), i got a ULTRA X-COnnect 500W and 2 uv ccfl's coming soon, and then it will be complete...for now

Cool. Let us see it. I am fairly happy with how mine turned out. Would love to have the ufo with the 2x120 rad. Gets over $400 us real quick though.

How long did you give it to bend the sides down?
how did you attach it together?

bend what sides down? i used a dremel and cut everything then attached em with alot of metal screws, and the windows (that are picture frame glass) are held in there by a piece of metal and 2 screws per corner so it would hold the glass in place (like this)

alright, quick reply to what i have said...now that i have to wait for psu, lighting and some more modding stuff, ive decided to go one up on the chrome fan grills i have...not painting em black, im gonna make my own. sticking with the AC/DC-Back In Black design, i am gonna make one with AC one with the lightning bolt and the other with, you guessed it, DC. im not sur if im gonna make em grills, guards, or filters, most likely filters because i have some un-used fine mesh lying around. im designing them as we speak, so ill keep ya updated on them

i used some hand clamps to bend em, then screwed em in...it was really easy, i coulda used some plyiers even, it was very easy to bend, it isnt steel, it was aluminum (i think)

Thats awsome man. I might try this over the summer, I know this sounds sappy but you have really inspired me to think of some cool things I could do. I have always wanted one of those box cases and I think I might copy you over the summer and do it, great job man!

cool, glad to inspire people, it would be an awesome watercooling case, because it would fit anything, and btw (in case i forgot to post this) all you need is a shelving unit, a old case and a dremel (basically) and maybe some tins snips

Looks nice man, I think it would look nicer if the Al had been thicker than it is, but it still looks very nice for that price. I'm considering doing something similar, but out of plain sheets that I will cut... it'll take too many man hours for me to do as of now, but I'm still thinking about it for when things are less crazy. Thanks for keeping my hopes up.

When I first saw this I was kinda discouraged for you lol, but you pulled through with shining colors man, good job.
I must admit that from a distance if you were to fix the warped sides it would look exactly like its real counterpart.
Once again good job.

this was a really quick case, i wanted to get it done fast, the case that i am building for my friend is gonna be carefully cut and bent and whatnot
