If you're running it off of the mobo header that's probably your problem. Try it off of a Molex.

you mean get a 3 - 4 pin adapter?

You could do that...or you could pull the black and red wires out of your three pin and stick them into the black and yellow wires of the molex (the pins have holes in them if you never noticed it...)
That way you can still have the three ping with that last wire (fan monitor) plugged in to get your RPMs! :)

Right. Just pull the wires out of the header connector and stick them in the holes on the molex as dexcribed above. Leave the blue/yellow wire in, though, so that you can still monitor your RPMs.
BTW, once you take them out, chances are you're not getting them back in, so make sure you want to do this rather than get an adapter.

The female end...the one that you plug into the mobo. Just pull the two wire out of that.
Doesn't matter which black wire you use...they're both just grounds.

Yep. It was the mobo header giving you problems!
It's not going to kill your fan. It'll be just fine. :)

It might be wierd like that cause it's not getting through the header...
You'd know if it was a problem, though, cause that thing would be really, REALLY loud. :)
