View Full Version : How to remove AOL icon from systray?

We have cable internet, but I still have to have AOL because my father is too lazy to change his email address. Yesterday AOL said it needed to download something, so I did, and now there's an AOL icon in the systray (uh lower right, where the clock is, I hope that's the systray). After right-clicking and looking at a few menus for a way to remove this icon, I emailed AOL tech support and asked them how to do it, and to my amazement, they responded saying there's no way to remove it. Is there some way I can remove it anyway? I looked on the startup tab of the config utility, and the only AOL startup item is "aoldial.exe" which doesn't sound like a tray icon to me. Thanks for any help.

delete it from the startup folder (start>all programs>startup)
disable the startup item in msconfig (start>run> type msconfig)
If is a service, disable it or set it to manual

just a few suggestions, But note that It may be needed for some AOL things to work.

That's so typical of AOL.
