Was drinking from the water fountain at work today and began wondering what kept the water so cool and if it could be put in a water cooled system for our computers.

if i remember correctly they use peltiers, at least on the company water coolers. Probably a freon unit for a water fountain.

Well.. my company has one in the 'to be discarded' pile right now. I have let it be known that I would like to have it if its to be thrown out.
It looks like its a compressor unit of some sort. I really don't know much about refrigeration units. Its definitely not a peltier setup (unless there's a lot more to it than typical peltier setups).
I'm debating whether I would hook it up to my system.. or give/sell it to someone else who would appreciate it. I think it would be too loud for my tastes...

There might be a mini fridge in there.
Just a thought...:D
Probably pelier are used...

I've been eyeing the watercooler we have at work...It's soooo quiet and it makes the water so nice and chilly! Hmmm..check outAqua Logic (http://www.aqualogicinc.com/cyclone.htm). I bet you could rig something sweet w/ one of those setups!

I use an electric oasis bottled water dispenser to chill the water in my rig. it does the job nicely. i just dropped the pump in the top and ran the lines directly to the waterblock and back (no radiator) temps are 30c to 35c :D
