Saw this at a swapmeet today (pretty sure I remember it right - not 100% certain) but havn't heard of this stepping before.

I bought the AHYJ 1.4 as I wasn't sure of the pedigree of the EHYJ.
Anyone seen these before?

Swapping my CPU is not possible because I got the AHYJ from a different vendor.

The guy selling the EHYJ was pretty vague and could give me no info other than it it was new. This vender actually had the cheapest price by 5 bucks.
The third line started with a number not letter.
I thought I'd be better off with the proven AHYJ.
Time will tell if it was a mistake.

I think you made the correct call but I would still like to see how those chips perform.

There is a link off the AMD website regarding their stepping history, look if it shows up, if it isn't it might be a fake, if this "store" you bought it from isn't really a big manufacture it might just be a sticker or a forge.

Its pretty hard to forge a diestamp. I would imagine that you'd need a lot of very expensive equipment to do that correctly.

It certainly wasn't a sticker!
I have bought stuff from this guy before, I seriously doubt it was a forge.
I'm sure the first letter of the stepping code was an 'E', but I could have muddled the other letters.
The third line definitely started with a number. This is what put me off and I moved on to check out what other venders had.
Since this was swapmeet there were plenty to choose from.

In hindsight I wish I had double checked. I was surprised when I logged into the net and couldn't turn up any info.

Start with a 4 right?
Well, Y is definately better than 4!

(letter better than number)

If it was the same price as the T-bird you got hosed because you could've had the MP for the same price.
