View Full Version : /sigh 3D Mark 2001 Bench Mark..
Welp, benchmarked my system with this software and wow.. got a pathetic score of 1930. I went to the site and people with the 32mb geforce2 cards were scoring much higher.. My system is as follows:
Epox 8k7a+
AMD T-Bird 1.4ghz Processor
512mb PC2100 Crucial DDR Ram
Geforce2 Ultra w/ detonator driver version 1.2.9.0 (The latest detonator driver would cause errors to pop up in some games I play and these were the latest 'recommended' drivers.)
What in particular would you recommend I'd do to raise these bench marks.. I haven't made any real system changes in the bios so that is prolly why the scores were so dammed low.. Thanks.

I get about 1800 with a Duron690, 384Meg PC133, GeF2 MX. Is DirectX installed and working. Try turning off virus scanners etc to get nore performabce.
Yep I have Dx8 installed and it's working fine as far as I can tell =).

What osperating system are you using? When did you install it before or after the cpu was over clocked?
I am using Win2k and installed it after installing the CPU. I have made one change since the first test.. I changed the system performance from normal to fast and the latest benchmark hit 2014.. so have seen a slight improvement.

So you installed 2kpro with an overclockered cpu?
My specs:
8k7a rev 1.1
256 meg pc2100 crucial 8882222
1.2 athlon 1.85 vcore @ default clock (9 x 133)
leadtek G2 ultra @ default (250/458)
2081 det 4 drivers
1432 4in1 drivers
dirX 8.0
W2kpro-
SP1
sp2 hotfix and the 541k manual upgrade
I haven't overclocked yet.. my old system was ;).

Darn , ok are you dual booting and if yes did you create another partition fo 2kpro?
nope.. 2k pro is the lone OS on the machine.. =) I'm not sure which revision the board is.. and I'm running the 4in1 drivers that came with the board.. I'm also using older detonator drivers.. =/
Go and get the 1432 final from Viahardware.com (http://www.viahardware.com) just click on the link in the upper left hand corner labled 4in1.
Go to the site and make sure you've installed the SP2 microsoftupdated.microsoft.com (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) ther is a big red Service Pack 2 click on it then MS will do a check to see what you need just click on either (i cant remmember) the recommended updates or the picks of the month. The SP2 you want will be only about 575k and it has to be downloaded by its self the download is quick but the install will take some time so go have some lunch or something ;) .
You did say you have a G2 ultra right? If you do yo should be able to match or really better my scores , the 20.81 over the 1290 did nothing for 3dmark01 it only increased the 3dmark00 scores some.
I hope this will help if not maybe try to reformatt delete all your patitions and try another clean full install of 2kpro.
/sigh.. hope it doesn't come to reformatting the system.. I did have a voodoo3 3k installed prior to the geforce2 ultra though.. could something be lingering around from the voodoo3?
*edit* Installed the latest 4in1 drivers.. still barely breaking 2000.. I also matched my mem settings in the bios like you did hehe.. is there anything else I should change in the bios? /cry..

check if you are running AGP 4x!
Yep running AGP 4x.. /sigh.. could something from the voodoo3 still be floating about somewhere? I think I read from an earlier post that it could very well affect the performance of a better card.
Hey Nate I'm guessing you just upgraded instead of going for the clean install to save all you programms and things right? If you did do this I would suggest backing up what you want and going into FDISK and deketing your 1 patition and reformatting then doing a true clean install of 2kpro.
I've had 2kpro for almost one week and have reformatted 3 times already , in my case I only keep around 2.5G on my HDD and nearly one of them is the OS so its not really a big deal for me.
Sorry.. =P These harddrives were fresh outta the esd bags when I installed W2K..
try tweaking it with nvmax and follow the guide in this website.

Eek! Still not good!
I'm running 2k pro (Clean install) on an unclocked PIII 600
1: Via 4.33 drivers
2: DirectX 8.0
3: nVidia DetXP's
4: Hercules 3D Prophet II MX 400 64 Meg (unclocked, but coolbits is just sitting waiting!)
5: Latest Award BIOS flashed.
AGP 4* enabled, 64Meg aperture size, Auto controlled. BIOS shadow enabled, 196Meg o' RAM at 133MHz
Getting 2500-ish in 3DMark2001 (sorry, no screenshot, but I'm at work) 1024*768 32 bit colour........
Grr this sucks.. guess I'm gonna have to back up all my drivers and stuff and reinstall the OS.. :(
Is there any chance of it being a crappy card? or more so problems with software some where..
*edit* used that tweak utility and hit 2003.. bout the same as it was before.. =( could something be physically wrong with the card or would it be a software problem
