Okay - well, just now I was doing some.. very important homework. . . . and then the water in my tubes kind've fizzled up (I think the water was low, and so it started turning more bubbly than liquidy) ..

It had been doing that for the past couple of days, and I planned on taking it home this weekend and doing some much needed water cooling maintenance..

But, when the fizz stopped, so did my pump. It just cut off, quit.. kapoot.. :(
I cut it off and waited for a bit to see if it overheated or anything, but no go.

Are there any local stores with good pumps that I could go to, or am I going to have to wait the week wait and order one online? If so, which is a good pump nowadays? I had to do so much stuff to get this Mag3 ready (sealing it, modding it).. hopefully you can recommend a pump that doesn't need all of that work done before it can be used.

*edit* hrm, maybe PetSmart has some good oens..

I havent found a single local petsmart or petco that carries decent quality inline pumps. Local aquarium mom and pop type shops around where I live however do carry eheim and danner mag's. no clue where you live or what kind of options therein you have, but the local shops have a much larger selection than the big retail chains.

Failing that, you can find just about any AC pump at Marinedepot (http://www.marinedepot.com) depending on how comfortable you are with your powersupply's ability to support a DC pump

how did you mod your mag 3?

My mag 3 did the exact same thing, I RMA'd it for dead but turns out it was gummed up...this was on a new install too. Apparently there was something in the HC (was a very thin film of white powder) but was enough to clog the impeller shaft. The receptionist at Danner fixed it lol. I felt like a tard. :o

She was very surprised that it had quit.

May want to check it out?

IYIENACE - I think that may be what's up with mine. I just plugged it in, and when I hold it I can feel it very lightly vibrating..

and I really didn't mod it zip, I just took it apart and put some sealant in some places to stop it from leaking eventually..

and the DC's are nice - I'm going to take it to the store and get it checked on, and if it really is gone, I might go that way.

sounds like the impeller could be broken. if its vibrating less than it usually does, thats my best guess. you could buy a replacement for $9.00 here

Thanks Zip. Tomorrow I'm going to try to pry it open (the sealant has it stuck like cement).. and see if there are any clogs or anything, and then I'll see if it's the impeller or something else :)
