hey guys,im thinking about upgrading cpu
mainly to crunch more wu's and encode video faster

atm im running a duron 800@933
(133*7)
i know that the athlon has 4x the L2 cache and so forth
was just wondering what sort of difference in times i would get
also prices are bout $100 for a 1ghz tbird and $125 for a 1.4 ghz
would it be worth the extra expenditure
i think it would be
just after some thoughts
cheers

I would spend the extra $25, you end up with a 40% increase in speed for a 25% increase in price.

yeah, I mean most people with 1.0's can do 1.4, the 1.4 should be able to do no less than 1.6, I'm doing 1.7 on air;)

I agree with all of the above. Spend the extra $25 and get the 1.4. If you can, ask for a specific stepping to increase you chances at a better overclock!

If you are upgrading to any athlon or amd system there is no reason not to get a 1.4ghz.. its only $100 on pricewatch.com .
