Need Help!!!

i had a crash in windows xp and now when i reboot i get an error saying windows/system32/config/system file is missing or currupt, i checked and it is still their... so what do i do?? i cant boot into windows and all i have is a windows 98 boot disk which wont boot xp... anyone know where i can get that system. file? i think it was like 13 megs or something..

thats the system.ini file which is actually very small ill see with the string of code you would need to put in there to get it to boot up.

you do have the ablity to edit right?

its not system.ini its called system. and its actually like 6 megs long... its in the windows/system32/config directory...
msybe its just an xp thing?? but its their and it is about 6 megs i think..

try a format/reinstall

jsut checked that file out and there are two files in there called system ones a file and anothers an apllication used by windows

so depending on which is screwed up will decide how and how easy it is to fix.

yeah the one that is screwed is system.
the other one is system.sav i think and its ok... but i dont have a windows xp boot disk so i dont know what do do..
maybe someone can upload it to me its like 6meg's to my email or link it to me...???
dunno if they are the same file on everyones system, but worth a try...
