i recenly got a new geforce 2 for my comp and was putting my other geforce 2 in my other sys but it a HP (damn HPs) and it has on board video. I installed the geforce and the diver went in right and i was able to view the screen thru the geforce video out but i can't change the res of the screen cuz it has a conflict on with the on-board video.

How do i disable (or dismantale :) ) my on-board video?

Thanx

With my Abit motherboard, you disable the onboard video in the BIOS.

well, go into windows, go to device manager, then into display right click on properties of the onboard video and disable it(there should be an option to do this)......

Both suggestions are right. My first computer was a Packard Bell(icky) with onboard video. Got my first TNT card and just had to go into windows and disable onboard video in Device Manager. Some motherboards will let you disable it in the Bios and some might have jumpers for it. I've heard some suggestions of just ripping the chip off the board but that might be a bit extreme. Course you could just use that as an excuse for a new computer.

Could you just reassign it's IRQs, DMAs, memory address, ect in windows? Supposing I wanted to (for some reason I can't think of right now) wanted two monitors hooked up at the same time showing the exact same thing. You should be able to move around all the stuff for the onboard video so it still works.... Right???

Interesting thought. I know dual vid cards are possible just never thought of trying it with onboard and card video. Should just be getting windows set up just right which from what I've heard is a pain sometimes.

In my HP machine I use a V3 and the built in on the whole 2-monitor setup. You have uninstall the built in, install the other card, set the BIOS to boot first video card to PCI(in my case anway), then reinstall the built in so Windows makes the adin card the default, 1st video card. Beyond that it was smooooth sailing. I guess. No matter what I do to it it's still an HP:):)

you look for bios settings or jumpers on the motherboard?

Dont't you mean 16 colors??? Like a DOS picture of windows?

Ummmmm.... Are you sure you got the latest drivers?? Who knows... That might do it... Right??
