Quake 4

I just wanted to know what ppl know about this as i loved the Quake3, quake 3 was mainly online play with not much single player but the online play was fast fun and was IMO the best online game at the time and is still close. will the new Quake 4 be fast paced like Quake 3 is? as its got the Doom 3 engine and Doom3 isnt fast paced like quake3 so will this mean Quake 4 will be as slow as Doom3 ONLINE?

well its not quake 3 - afaik its a return to the quake 2 setting, which probably means it will be as slow as doom3, depends how much of the q2 feel they go for, and I havent heard anything about its mp

You have to consider, that while a game can use an engine, it can also be nothing like it at all. Take for instance, lets say Half-Life, and its mod Natural Selection. Very good sci-fi mod, used of course the Half-Life engine, which was a modified Quake 2 engine. There were many differences, and if somebody was to pick up Half-Life and Natural Selection, they would probably not be able to identify NS as being started from Half-Life

From what I have read Quake 4 will mostly be focusd on single player, the story apparently picks up hours after the end of Quake 2....But apparently they are going to try and recreate the Quake 3 Arena experience in the new engine...

Well i hope they do recreat it as its a bad ass game and the only game that cept me at home and played for 5 hours a day

Well hope it is a great online game UT2004 is boring.

I hope that too...UT04 is so bored sometimes

The online play in Quake 2 was what got me hooked on online FPS games.

CTF was f'in GREAT! I remember my favorite server too, Yeknom Tribe. Had a ?female? toon on it named Dominoe that would own everybody.

Those were the days. Quake 3 wasn't as good as Quake 2 IMO.
