I just want to ask what are the simptoms for comp being unstable? Lockups? BSODs?
I'm running 1330MHz on default Vcore with no problems till here but I'm interested in what could happen when comp becomes unstable...

K6-III: I got this 400 Mhz CPU to 450. Now I want to go a little higher... My mobo will do 3.5Vcore. But I don't wont to fry this chip... If I have good cooling, what Vcore will not compromise the chip?

Instability ranges from occassional system hangs and BSOD´s up to spontaneous reboots, file corruption etc..

I think I learnt today how unstability shows itself on my comp... When @ 1.33GHz I'm more or less perfectly stable, @ 1.35 I got a hang in F@H and a endless beep... @ 1.34 F@H worked just fine, but when I ran 3DMark2K1, it just hanged, so my speed limit with default Vcore is 1.33GHz, not too bad...

try make the Vcore to 1.84, it will do you lot of good for all speed up to 1420Mhz at reasonable temp, anything above that will hang on my system. and guess wat, mine default Vcore was 1.84, mm...... seem like i am the only one dat haf a 1.84Vcore default for the 1.2 T/B, :D itz unique.
by the way what does BOSD mean?

My K6-2 is doing 601mhz @ 2.7v, I actually edged it up to 3.1v to see if it could handle 616mhz stable but it couldn't. I only went this far because I have now got a socket A heatsink / fan on it. I'd stay at 2.7v as my absolute limit if I were still using my socket 7 sink / fan. Does your socket 7 board have temp sensors? Is it a box setup or oem?

My mobo doesn't have a temp sensor though it was optional at the time... I didn't know that. I use a Socket A cooler on that thing, and what does box or eom mean?

Boxed CPU´s normally come with a cooler attached and a longer warranty..
Oem CPU´s are dedicated to system builders, no coolers, shorter warranty..

And the coolers attached to the box version are usually low end crap! With oem you get to pick and choose which cooler you want. Also there's no guarantee that the sink on a box version was put on properly. With oem you do it yourself so you know for sure.

I get it, its OEM... But a guy I know bought it for me (I ordered, he bought, I payed) so I didn't really chose the HS, but now I did choose the HS... I replaced a loud Super Orb with two Socket A HS with low noise fans... I like 'em one of them r sitting on the K6-III
