Antec recently released the TPII series, and I'm having a hard time finding any user reviews online.

Has anyone around here experienced one of these yet? Ive heard the original series was pretty sketchy, and im interested in how these do. The dual 12v rails sound nice, but are the rails even stable, or on target?

It would be awesome if someone had some info. Thanks

Antec's never made a bad power supply and if these are an improvement over their previous series, I'm sure they are good.

I never thought of Antec's ATX 1.2 PSUs being "sketchy". A lot of people have (including me) used them without problems. They just didn't work well on ATX 2.0 designed motherboards. If these PSUs are of the same quaility of the older ones, I wouldn't be concerned about getting one. IMO there are better bang for your buck supplies, like the Fortron (460w) AX500 Blue Storm.

fortron AX500-A
or even the 500w for 9 bucks cheaper :P

I know that since its dual rail 12v, its really more like 30amp, but the fortron has 15a per 12v rail, and the antec has 18a per 12v.

Is this a considerable difference, or is the fortron still going to be more stable?

I do like the fortron color though..

I can't tell you if one will be better because I haven't seen any tests on the TPs. All I can say is that the Fortron has already been proven to be a good performer, but don't shrug off the Antecs yet.

what are you planning on running that will use more than 180 watts per 12v rail? an overclocked 6800 ultra uses 70 watts, a winchester at 2.7ghz and 1.6 volts uses around 60 watts, or a clawhammer at the same speed/voltage uses about 100. i suppose a prescott would do the trick, but it'd have to be up around 4.5ghz @ 1.5 volts to break 170 watts.

nothing really :)

im planning for the future, and if i can keep a power supply until it dies, great.

plus ive had bad luck with power supplies, so i figure the more power the less likely ill have undervolt/amp problems.

system specs:
ePoX 8rDa3+ (rev 3.3)
AMD XP 3200+ (stock)
Corsair Valu Select DDR400, 1GB
ATI 9800 Pro (stock)
2 7500rpm 20gb hdds
1 7500rpm 80gb hdd
1 cold cathode
2 120mm case fans
1 90mm case fan
1 Lite-On DVD-RW CD-RW Combo drive
1 god-knows-which-generic-brand DVD-ROM drive

a wattage calculator will tell me that ill be drawing about 355 watts total.
