I want to make a good water block but have no idias how... I have thought of an old Socket7 HS will be the sluminum base and want to use stuff found and home like bottles and stuff like that, cause I can't get any Copper/Aluminum blocks, nor Plexiglass sheets... So I'm in trouble... could any one help?

Get yourself a PVC cap. drill a couple of holes in it, seal it to what ever, and zingo, a waterblock.

If you dont have a window and dont mind if its messy then you can use any type of plastic to epoxy a around your heatsink, just make sure you test it first and that you have lots of epoxy.
Keep me posted

You could trie this one:

Which I find a mighty fine site when It comes down to inspiration.
But chances are you knew that one already ;)
Anyway, if you ever try direct die cooling, be sure to let me know the results.

My friend made a water block using old cards for pay phone they're like credit cards, he cut them and glued with cilicone... No top yet so I filled it with water and it doesn't leak. So I'm one step closer to completing this thing!

credit cards...thats great
did you put a heatsink as a base?
let me know how it preforms

Yes the HS is the base, the HS is from a P-MMX type. Not very high. And I'll already will have pins for the water to go through!

Have you ever tought about making a waterblock out of the cooper part of an Dragon Orb 3 Cooler?
you can rip off its cooper part or use the entire lower part of the cooler (:D the one without the fan! duh:D ) and wrap it with a cooper plate or something like that..

just an idea i had cause im going to retire mine since im getting a water cooler:)

some things i forgot:

someone might have mentioned this before.. i dont know..
you can try to wrap it in cooper and make it leak proof, as long as you have a dorb3

Hey Kaka
someone did the exact thing as you describe, but with a golden orb. Unfortunatelly it preformed worse than a homemade crossdrilled waterblock. But keep in mind that the golden orb has a alum base, so that may do all the diffrence.
if you do decide to mod the dorb3 tell me how it preforms.

I had a Mini Super Orb wich was making too much noise so I exchanged it with two large Socket A coolers wich keep almost same temp w/o that noise. So I can cool my T-Bird and the K6-III as well.:p

Though it could make a great waterblock...

My dad gave me a cool idea about how to make a copper block.
get some copper sheet and cut it the way you want i.
Bottom , side and top, like a hollow cube and if you want, some channels inside, where the water flows. then you put the bottom or top part on the stoweplate and use regular soldering paste to solder it together, like glue cus it dosent need that high temp to melt and its sticks to the copper really nice too just rug and clean the surface a bit.... now my english isnt the best so i maybe missed out on some words but i think you get the idea..

Not a bad idia, though like I said in my first post can't get copper sheets/blocks/anything...
