I cant get the pencil trick to work ive penciled in the L1 bridges and then tried to change my multiplier. I have even checked the bridges are connected my using a multi meter and they are. i am currently using a Tbird 900 with 100*9 and looking to achieve at least 100*10

Sometimes the pencil trick doesn't work right for one reason or another but it sounds like it may be ok since you tested the connection. Anyway. It could be your motherboard as well since some don't allow the mods to take place in the bios. What MB do you have?

What Ploaf said. Also I'd try the fsb first, if you have that option.

Btw welcome aboard. :)

I have exactly the same problem, I pencil them in, go into bios and the option to change the multilpyer etc. is not available. BTW its a PCHIPS M810LMR

I don't know much about hat board(the Soltek) but I jsut read a review on it that mentioned dip switches to change the multiplier and they said that you can't do it from the bios.
Here- http://www.bxboards.com/mainboard/kt133a/SoltekSL-75KA-V.shtml

Also- what is the stepping? I have a 900Mhz Tbird that couldn't OC over 950 stable. The stepping will be a code on the chip and some are better than others.

on my board there is a dip switch which i change the multiplyer with and there might be a couple jumpers to let you do that

Damn, so there is no way what so ever to overclock without buying a new mobo.
