Welcom to the forums

Yes, it is loud, 46.5dBA, and you can lower the noise by lower the voltage, but that will also lower the cfm by about the same ratio. To run at 7v connect the Red positive(from the fan) wire to the +12v(yellow) line and the black ground/negative wire from the fan to the +5v(red) line. You could even make a switch to change between voltage.

Try this site for volt swicth

And this site for noise

You can lower the volts with just a couple wire nuts, and maybe some wire strippers(If can't get wire strippers, you could probably use sissors or some kind of a knife). Just connect them like I said and skip the switch. As far as know, there is no way to change it in any bios.

i used siccsors for my volt mod.

it was easy

but i did on a 3 --> 4 pin connector

get those and even if you screw up you won't have yourself a screwed fan too

i cut the black lead that connects the header and the plug(not the yellow lead) make sure to make the cut not too close to the connector

then strip the wire from the header until it showed the metal wires, twisted it up and stuck it into a 5v line of the other plug on the 3 to 4 pin connector

hope you understand this
