DMA stands for Direct Memory Access. DMA allows computer peripherals to communicate directly with the computer's RAM memory, bypassing the processor. With DMA, peripherals work faster and use less processor power. In modern computers, DMA access is negotiated by the computer's BIOS during startup, or by the operating system. Computers have a limited number of DMA channels available, but modern computers rarely run out.
Check your manual for imfornation on enabling it, but it is usually a bios setting
Go to device manager and right click on the drive ...select properties....you should see the DMA check box. If you don't see it check you BIOS setting to see if it is enabled in the BIOS.
