Well, I had an AXP system where the CPU could be overclocked to 2.3GHz and the Video card to 475/1200, but i sold it.. So, I got me an A64 3200+ and overclocked it to 2.3GHz as well.. This is with a refurbished Gigabyte K8NS-Ultra. So I up the video card, freezes at the beginning of 3dmark EVERY TIME. The RAM is not overclocked at all, is in a divider, same as the AXP system, only things changes were the CPU and mobo. So, I overclock the video card 2MHz, freezes up as well.. Im thinking that this is because the mobo is refurbished, but what do you all think?

Well I got a similar problem, My 6800 just wont OC at all and I have had some replies and nothing works. I dont think it is because it is a refurbished mobo. By the way I am still trying to figure out why my card wont overclock. I figure your problem is more power supply problem or voltage than anything. Maybe not but I would look at what is going on with volts.

I have a Fortron 530W, more than enough volts for it. The odd problem is that it did 475/1200 on my AXP, now it does nothing.

Read THIS (http://3dgpu.com/archives/2004/08/09/geforce-6800-tweak-guide/) and see if it helps

I experienced something similar when moving my GF6800 NU from a AXP-M in a NF7-S to a A64 3000 winnie in a K8N NEO2 Platinum. My 6800 is a Chaintech and is stock OC'd at 358/770 and could run 400/800 in the NF7-S. Moved to the new system and had lots of problems. Eventually found the K8N NEO2 has a bios setting that dynamically overclocks the video and turning that off improved things but eventually found the stock clocking for the card worked best. I have virtually no headroom to overclock and have found more stability by turning off AGP fast write. Since the memory bandwidth is so much greater with an A64 I have to believe the AXP platforms just don't push the video as much so even overclocked doesn't stress the video to the degree an A64 platform does.

Alright, well then, Im going to say its the mobo as well, will be ordering a Neo2 and seeing how that works out..

UPDATE: Okay, so I ran 3dmark03 at 450/1100, froze a little bit into it. So, I lower it to 425/1100, and that seems to work fine, but I still want my 475/1200, still think its the mobo?

Do you have a friend that will let you test your card in his machine?

Well, I have two machines, the other being a Dell, I can replace the video card and power supply and see how it performs I guess..

What is the update on your Overclocking progress? I have virtually the same problem with the exact same mobo. Mine won't OC at all, but did OC on a mobo that I just took it out of.

Well, now i cant even get it to run CS:S right at 425/1100, only works at stock, so im gonna blame it on the board. Getting a Neo2 next.

Yeah, this mobo isnt ALL that bad, i just dont really like it, but now i cant RMA it, its been 20 days, due to neweggs policy, it cant be returned after 15 days :( Hafta sell it off ebay, for i know peoples on these forums wont want it..

Can't go wrong with the Neo2. My 6800U OC's like a champ on it.
Just don't believe the temps it reads out. I had way too high temps first and now with the newest bios i have 18 ambient. Even for a watercooled setup that's pretty good with 22 degrees ambient. :p

Don't forget to disable graphics card speedup in the hidden bios options.

Have you tried a new mobo yet.

I don't know...It could be your PSU. The FSP530-60GNA had a heavy +3.3v and +5v rail but the +12v is a little weak for a modern system.

Hmm, I doubt it, I think that it would be able to hold up, comparing it to others' systems, this isnt as much as a lot of the heavy duty people with the Fortron 530W. Either way, this should be able to support a A64 at 1.45v, a 6800U not overclocked much at all, and the RAM at 2.8v... let alone one HDD and one CD-R..

Yeah I guess so. I guess if your you still have problems with the new mobo, then you should look at the psu next.

My video card still wont overclock either, and I am running the Nforce3 Ultra with a 3200+ 939 also, I think we are having the same problem. Anyway I got a new motherboard coming on Friday and when I get it up and running I will let you guys know the outcome. I hope it fixes the problem.

Getting another Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939. Thats what I got in the machine now (Had it about 2 weeks now) and I figure that something is wrong with it somewhere since other people have got the same motherboard and it will allow them to overclock. I dont think it is the 6800 because I can make other adjustments to it such as AA and the like.
So we see what happens after I get the thing installed.

Got the new Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939 motherboard installed and it still wont allow me to overclock the video card, still have no idea what the problem is.
What could it be????

Well I took the 2 week old Gigabyte out and put another Gigabyte in and it still wont overclock....Now What?
Are there any settings in the motherboard BIOS that would prevent me from Overclocking the video card?
Does anyone here have a Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939 motherboard with a 6800 AGP video card that will overclock, if so what is the trick to get the card to Overclock?
Many thanks in Advance.

Well my Gainward 6800 Ultra doesnt overclock at all, dont know if its the mobo. But maybe I just got a ****ty overclocker. Doesnt even do 435/1230MHz without artefacts in 3DMark05.

of all things, I downloaded new BIOS from leadtek, actually the download is 2 bios's in one download, so ok, there are 2 files, I used the one marked 2992 and it didnt work, so I used the file 2992_NTSC and flashed the bios using the .rom file 62290090.rom....Wala....the card overclocks now like a charm, I hope this helps the rest of you.....
