Hi,

Just changed my mem and cpu on my NF7-s v2. Had a desktop barton 2500@2200 mhz @1.75v and 1x512 buffalo ch5 stick, prime/memtest86/fah/game stable
Now I have a 2600 xp-m currently doing 2100mhz @1.45v and 2x512 pc3200 corsair vs. Not stable at all.
With the new config:

Mem at 200 mhz, 2.6v
Prime would error out in 10 min or less, if I run the FSB @ 200 and the mem at 5/6, it works just fine. CPU seems to do 2200 at 1.45 provided the mem is at less than 200 (still haven't really tested the CPU)
Memtest would produce ~1300 errors on test #5.

Mem at 198 mhz, 2.6v
0 problems

Mem at 202 mhz, 2.6v
Memtest alone gave me ~4000 errors on test #5, so I didn't go any further.

Mem at 200 mhz, 2.7v
Memtest consistently produces ~30 errors on test #5, prime and FAH are 24/7 stable. ~1240 errors less on memtest than with 2.6v then.

Mem at 200 mhz, 2.8v
Rock solid on all tests.

When I get 1300 errors on memtest, it's all over both sticks. I haven't bothered to test each stick at a time.
I guess it's fine to run @2.7, even though memtest asks for 2.8, but:

1- I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
2- Would it hurt the mem a lot to run it @ 2.8? I guess it's ok,but want more opinions on this.

Thanks!

Most memory companies warranty their ram up to 2.8v +/- ~5% so it should be okay to leave the vdimm @ 2.8v. I haven't really heard of anyone killing their ram with 2.8v.

Aaight then. I'll set it at 2.8 and see how high it can go, not much I'm sure. I'll also test another pair that belongs to a friend that'll use it with an a64, so mine might work better on his msi neo nforce 250 gb.

Welcome to the Forums, Mate!

I've owned VS before. If you hvae 2.9V at your disposal, give it a shot as well. I could hit 217-220MHz ,2.5-3-3-6-1T, 2.8V (probably higher if I would have relaxed the timings it a bit more). Make sure you burn in your RAM with a solid 14+ hrs of Memtest at the highest voltage possible.

Good Luck!

Hey thanks! Right now that I have the 200 mhz prime stable @2.7, I'm focusing on the CPU. As of today prime has been going at it @2100 mhz, 1.45 vcore (1.4 on an nf7-s), for 2 days in a row, so I'll keep rising the cpu, then I'll get to the FSB and will probably attempt your suggestion. I just need 1 more case fan, right now it's only 1 fan + PSU moving air. I already have the fan but need to dremmel my case, as it has a very inefficient design for the top hole, it has 2 grills, so barely any air comes out and it gets noisy. Thanks again!

Mate,

Bump up the DRAM voltage. They are warrentied upto 2.8V and 2.9 V is NOT going to kill them. I really wish I had a stick of value RAM with me. I would love to pump in 3.4V and watch the little one fly :D
