View Full Version : How much further can the BFG Oc's be overclocked?
Hi, does anyone know how much further the BFG GeForce PCX 6600 GT OC (http://www.bfgtech.com/6600GT.html) card can be overclocked with its stock cooling HSF, if atall?
If it cant be overclocked further with its HSF, would adding something like a Zalman VF700-CU VGA cooler let me overclock furhter? If so, by how much?
Thanks.

The stock heatsink is little more than a showpiece, and does nothing at all for additional cooling. If you are lucky you might get another 25MHz out of the stock setup, especially if you replace the thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5. With a better cooling setup such as a Zalman or Watercooling, you could easily hit clocks as high as 600MHz if you happen to have a good chip. Memory is hit and miss. Some people don't get any extra speed, and some people can hit 1250 with good cooling. Buy some OCZ or Tweakmonster copper Ramsinks and some Arctic Alumina thermal adhesive and sink those chips and you'll be set.
(In my opinion buying the BFG version of this card is a waste of money. Buy the XFX - Identical features, a better overclocker, and far less money - money that can go towards your new cooling setup!) :p
Hi, I've had an XFX 5600 before and only after 6 months the fan ceased to work and that coupled with some guy here claiming he's had two XFX GPU's blow up on him has put me right off.
Which company makes the best cards becuase its obviously not XFX.
I know the chip I wanna get... its just the company to buy it from.. theres so many of them and no clear information on which is the better one.
Also I've heard nothing but praise for BFG, they are said to use the highest quality parts and their customer services and RMA policy is the best too :bang head

Well, consider that XFX has probably sold 4-5X the number of cards any other vendor has sold...the vast majority of people are not having any issues. The components which seem to be failing most are not those directly manufactured by XFX, but by the same vendors who supply all the VGA card makers.
If you are so hellbent on not getting an XFX, the Leadtek cards are easily one of the most full featured and have a better stock cooler as well.
4-5X more, woow I never knew that. I think i'll reconsider now.
What clocks have been achieved with the XFX GF 6600GT with its stock HSF?
